Oesophageal cancer

Looking for some positive outcome stories.

My husband 51 has been diagnosed with stage 2 oesophageal cancer. Had endoscopy which showed barrats disease and biopsies showed up the cancer.

going forward the plan is chemotherapy then a rest then surgery. Removing 6 inches of the oesophogus and moving the stomach up to rejoin. 6-8 months recovery.

Just absolutely broken and all I’m hearing is risks and I really need to hear some good outcome stories to give me hope.

Just want to wake up from this horrid nightmare.

  • Hello qejkaz-4jyfpi-veZsoj and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm sorry to hear your husband has been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. This must have been very difficult news to receive but I'm glad a treatment plan is now in place and I hope all goes well with your husband's chemo and surgery.

Hopefully some of our oesophageal cancer members will stop by soon to share their stories and advice but if you would like to discuss any of this further with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to answer any other questions you may have at this time and put your mind at ease about what's to come.

We're thinking of you qejkaz-4jyfpi-veZsoj and sending all our strength and support your way.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
