Thrombocythaemia

Hi. I've just been diagnosed with thrombocythemia. For those have never heard of it (like myself until today) it's a rare blood cancer. It's not terminal but there isn't a cure either. I can be treated with medication. I guess the word cancer scared me and its genetic do I'm worried about my children and dint know if they should be tested? My mind usxall over the place and I don't know who to talk to. I feel like crying, then feel pathetic as it's not terminal and guilty for even posting here.

  • Hi had thrombocythemia when i was 15, I am now 54, i had my spleen removed as it was this that was destroying my platelets. I have lived a normal life since and I am now only on this forum as I have unfortunately got bowel cancer, not related at all. Any questions please ask no problem.
