Prostate cancer - family member recently diagnosed and starting chemo

Hi, my family member has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer Gleason score 9, which has spread to multiple lymph nodes and is starting chemotherapy. Can anyone offer any advise that’s been in this situation please?

  • Hello r.horth

I'm sorry to hear that a family member has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer which has spread to multiple lymph nodes. It's understandable that you may have some questions and concerns about what this means for your loved one.

We have some information on our website about metastatic prostate cancer which you may find helpful and I'm going to also tag in  who is one of the forum regulars. Eddie has been living with prostate cancer for a few years now and you can read more about his journey by clicking on his name. Hopefully he will pop along to share his experience with you before too long.

We also have a team of nurses here at Cancer Research UK that you can call to chat things through with if it would help. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that your family member's chemotherapy treatment goes well.

    Best wishes,
