Just diagnosed - Prostate Cancer, its in my lymph and bones

Had an MRI scan last week, just been told today that its prostate cancer and its in my lymph nodes and bones. Does that mean its Stage 4 prostate cancer?

  • I just wanted to know because looking at the statistics, if it is Stage 4, that gives me only a few years to live. Not that many men make it past 5 years. Anyone got any information they can share with me?

  • Hi ,AlwhoisthatAL, and welcome to the forum, though I'm sorry you have to be here. Your prostate cancer is Stage 4 my friend, any bone involvement is automatically a T4 staging, as am I, but it doesn't mean untreatable, it can be treated for many years, I'm almost 3 years post diagnosis, prostate cancer in 5 organs, 8 nodes pretty much undetectable, bar 1 node, and the four tumours in my spine will along with the node be treated with SBRT soon, to hopefully keep them down for some time yet. best wishes.

  • Lo AlwhoisthatAL, like you I have just been told my locally advanced prostate cancer is in the lymph nodes. And bones (stage 4). I'm about to start a course of oliaparib with Arbiraterone and prednisalone. This combination is looking promising for extending survival rates better than just Arbiraterone and prednisalone on their own. Talked to a couple of old buddies in the same situation and one of them is over 5 years down the line. No guarantees Mare, but don't despair. My thoughts are with you and all
