How long should it take to see an oncologist after diagnosis? Husband diagnosed with oesophageal cancer last month

My husband was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer of the oesophagus on 14 Feb 25, he  had a PET scan on 22 Feb but as yet gas not received an appointment to meet an oncologist. Is this a usual wait?

    Hi there,  yes I think this is a usual wait.  I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer end of August 24 and only saw my oncologist in December 24.  Even urgent referrals now dont seem to be treated as urgent.  Good luck to your husband with his cancer journey.  Once a treatment plan is in place it is usually easier to deal with.
