Triple Positive Breast Cancer

Hi,

it’s been 3 weeks since my initial diagnosis and off I went to the breast clinic yesterday expecting to get a surgery date, instead I get the news that I have triple positive Breast cancer and will be having chemo before surgery. I’m trying to stay positive but this has sent me into a spiral of doom!! They say it’s stage one just based on size and I’ve caught it really early, it’s also grade 3 and I just need advice/clarification any information really. I’ve read all I can on here and am resisting google as that never does my mental health any good.

  • Hello jobieejo,

You are right to keep well away from Google as not only is it not good for anyone's mental health but it never gives anyone satisfactory answers! You've done the right thing in coming here and reaching out to others who may have had a similar diagnosis. You can also trust reliable sources such as our website's page where you can see the different types of breast cancer and read about the one that best corresponds to your diagnosis. It's good news that they have said it is stage 1 and that it was therefore caught early and I hope that you will find out more too about your treatment and when you will be starting chemotherapy. It can be confusing understanding the terminology of staging and grading but we also have a section on our website which explains really well the stages and grades of breast cancer. There is even a useful page on stage 1 breast cancer.

It's a good idea to try and stay positive even though it isn't always easy to do so and if you feel there is anything you would like to seek advice or clarification on, don't hesitate to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - the helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

You are not alone with this breast cancer diagnosis and I wanted to mention a couple of members who posted in the last year who also mentioned having triple positive breast cancer, most notably on this thread and  who posted here - don't hesitate to respond to them if you wish and I hope that you will be hearing from other ladies here who have had the same diagnosis and a similar treatment plan. It helps sometimes to talk to others who've been through all this before and are further down the line in terms of treatment.

Wishing you the best of luck for the start of your chemotherapy - I hope it all goes well for you!

    Best wishes,
