Breast cancer confirmed 11/09/24

Had routine mammogram 12 August 2024, then referred  for further tests, cancer confirmed 11 Sept.  Two tumours, one is triple negative. Having MRI tomorrow, find out next week if chemo or surgery first. Age 65, feel alone and frightened.

  • Hi Diandolly

You are not alone. I was diagnosed at the beginning of September with triple negative and have been on a roller coaster since then. Fine one minute, then bursting into tears at the most inconvenient times. Waiting for my CT and bone scan results was the worst! You know how the brain can run away with dark thoughts (they showed no spread beyond the one lymph node and breast).

Waiting on a start date for chemotherapy now but know I will be having 8 cycles at 3 weekly intervals, followed by a lumpectomy and possible radiotherapy

I am most concerned about how I will react to chemo and how my body will be after. I am 67 and very healthy at the moment.

Please don’t feel alone, sending you strength to deal with whatever is to come

  • Hello Toni67

Thank you for your message.  I’m pleased yours appears not to have spread. I had a CT scan and MRI this week so should find out soon if mine has spread or not and the stage. The waiting is horrible, my mind is in overdrive imagining all the worst outcomes.I’m not very fit, I have asthma, high blood pressure and arthritis. I just want it out asap. Keep in touch please, Diane

  • The waiting is the worst! I now have my start date for chemotherapy on 23 October. I have mixed feelings, as I’m sure everyone does. Wanting to get things going and dreading it at the same time!

    We can do this!
