I'm sorry to hear about the diagnosis you have, I like you was first made aware of colerectol cancer with the test through door . I was very lucky to have a speedy pathway through the cancer pathway. I had colonoscopy followed straight away with scans and firm diagnosis within 3 days. I had surgery to remove the tumor a few weeks ago and numerous lymph nodes removed at same time. Some of which are positive but again a speedy response and I am due to undergo chemo this coming week ...I have every confidence that I will beat this and you can too reach out to everyone around you they will want to support you on this path .sending very best wishes

Hi for those that were following this post and others I have had my surgery two days before my birthday which was a blur I’m four days on now and am slowly starting to feel I can do things although not been the dredded toilet yet. I won’t lie I feel like I’ve been ran over by a train and come out the other end but the surgeons were amazing taking 16 tumours from my liver and the one in my colon so hopefully going forward all will be positive although it has changed my outlook on life and happiness and how I’m going to live going forward I really feel like I have been given a second chance. For those unclear of a diagnosis or plan do your prep for the operation so you are as fit as possible that definitely appears to have worked for me and helped. Happy to chat to anyone that may be worried our bodies are amazing and can deal with so much x 

Hi Wendy

So pleased the operation went well and they managed to remove everything that needed removing.  The really scary bit is over, you just have the long slog of getting your strength back now.  Remember, take the pain meds and lots of rest when you need it, you will bounce back.

Hi Clare gosh so sounds like you will be having similar to me bowel and liver op glad that they can now say they can operate sometimes best thing is for them to open you up and look as I was told 4 mets 3 being large but when they opened me they can scan your liver in such more detail and that’s when they found 16 and got rid of all they say but needless to say 1 or 100 an op is an op. I did lots of swimming prior which I would recommend they also said that the bowel one was not as large as they thought which was good. It’s not easy before during or after but it’s doable and people deal with it and each day gets better. Plan for me going forward is regular scans and some injections which will keep things at bay apparently but I didn’t have chemotherapy prior. Thinking of you going forward xxx wendy

Hi Jubbee, my tumours responded well to the chemo. I had my operation in March: bowel resection with a temporary ileostomy and liver resection. All done by keyhole during same operation. They got everything out and also took 19 lymph nodes which the pathology showed were clear. It’s not an easy journey but things are looking a lot more positive than they did 8 months ago and I am currently lying on a sun lounger Kos!  The care I’ve received has been amazing (oncology, surgical and stoma teams). • Hi thanks for the reply - that’s fantastic news I am so pleased for you ! Please may I ask now that you have had your op do you need further chemo ? How tough was the chemo my FIL is in hospital 70s but stronger than most at his age …. We need to wait for scans concerned about liver it seems common that it goes there although he has no symptoms to say it has / recent bloods in ANE showed nothing ? I hope you are having a lovely holiday x
