Metastatic prostate cancer

I have just been diagnosed with this and it has spread to my pelvis. I am seeing the urologist on Monday next week.
Unfortunately I also have CKD stage 3b verging on stage 4 with an egfr of 30-32   My psa wa  as normal until recently but is now 25.
I am not diabetic and don’t have high bp.
I am worried they will decide I am untreatable and just give palliative care?

  • Hi Freddy124 and a warm welcome to the forum, though sorry you have to be here, I have a friend  who was in a similar position CKD and MPCa spread to pelvic lymph nodes he had his prostate removed along with some of the nodes, the others were treated with SBRT, Freddy I'm no expert but i too have MPCa along with many heart conditions which limit my treatment options too  and understand many modern chemotherapy drugs and hormone therapy can impact the kidney to what degree I do not know, but there are many other treatments out there. best wishes.

  • Hello Freddy124,

It's difficult to know what treatment will be available to you, but do discuss any questions or concerns you have with your doctor. We have information on some of the metastatic prostate cancer treatment available on our website and our team of cancer nurses are available if you ever need to talk to someone. You can call them on the freephone 0808 800 4040, lines open from 9 to 5 Monday to Friday.

    I hope this helps,
