New Liver Met recurrence

I was diagnosed for stage 4 Colorectal cancer with 1 Met in Liver in Jan 2020, had an aggressive treatment and cleared off cancer in Dec 2020. In Apr 2022 had a 1 cm recurrence in peritoneal surface, it was resected, and I was once again free from disease till I had my scans in Feb 2024. Unfortunately, when I had scans in July, they found a new Met recurrence in Liver, it shows up on MRI and not on CT, but they are confident it is a recurrence. I just met the Consultant they are going to present my case in MDT and planning to resect it and put me on Chemo. I'm feeling very sad and frustrated that after 2-year of clean scans this new stuff popped out.

They said chemo after resection is good which will control the risk of recurrence.

Not sure how do I get ready for one more treatment. Feeling very sad

  • I'm Ok Ok. Undergoing chemotherapy infusion every two weeks and twice a day chemo oral med. They will do 4 sessions of chemo and do MRI, they said that MET might shrink, or they may ablate it. This chemo capox is really terrible. I hope all goes well and we find success in the treatment.

I hope thing go well with your father. If it is one MET they may zap it or will put him in systematic therapy.

I pray everything goes well !

  • Thank you so much for replying. Glad you are doing ok and under treatment, praying that the Met shrinks for you!! We’re not sure yet if my dad has  1 met or what yet, he’s just so poorly so I don’t think he is going to manage chemo but I wanted to ask around and research if they would do anything else like blast the tumours with radiotherapy etc.

    thank you

  • if he is not in a position to manage, they will remove it by blasting it or remove it by surgery. It all depends on the staging of that MET.

This is my second re-lapse in 4 years of initial diagnosis they put me under systematic therapy.

I hate this treatment but no other go. This everyday chemo tablets is horrible, I'm in continuous chemo from last 50 days.

  • They have said today at the hospital (not the oncologist though) that if they blasted it then it would Just move to other parts of the body but I want them to try!  I can’t give up.

sorry you have gone through this it’s absolutely awful!
Chemo is just horrible, made my dad so poorly.
Wishing you luck with your treatment.
