Anyone had radiotherapy for prostate cancer, how was it?
Hello Lazerblue and welcome to the forum. I had radiotherapy 15 months ago, EBRT which I would think is what you will be having 20 fractions (sessions), the procedure itself is painless, as you have prostate cancer you will be asked to drink about 700ml of water 20 minutes before treatment, I would suggest if yo have any incontinence issues to practice drinking 800ml and holding it for 0 minutes as its usually the only problem any of us had, apart from parking. but the radiographers are great and will support you, answer any questions or concerns, they can even have a Dr talk to you. I have never hard anyone say anything negative about the staff or the treatment. best wishes
Eddie
Hi Lazerblue,
As Eddie says it is indeed painless, the routine of empty bowels and full bladder are the most important things for uou to concentrate on. I was kept waiting a few times and had some close calls on the bed.
I had HDR Brackatherapy and 25 sessions, loose bowels will become an issue about halfway through and the urgency will remain for a while after treatment.
