High PSA levels - prostrate cancer

Had a PSA blood level of 21 and level has not come down after 2nd blood test.

Had MRI scan and bone scan and now await a biopsy tomorrow morning 21/02/24. I am feeling so afraid and trying to come to terms with what the prognosis will be as I know it will be bad news.I have many mixed feelings and emotions but mostly I feel terrified and feel this is a death sentence. I have young children and don’t want them knowing as it will affect them in more ways than one.

Is there anyone who is or has experienced what I am going through for the first time as well.

  • Hi Kravaty and welcome to the forum, I have PCa, diagnosed 20 months ago, I understand how emotional and worried you are and how your mind can take you to the worst possible outcome. A PSA test is not a diagnosis, it's an indicator and 21 is relatively low, I know people who's PSA is over 1000 and they are doing well, Prostate cancer is also one of the most successfully treated ones, 98% of men who get it do not die of it. Kravaty the early days of tests, waiting for results and for treatment to start are the hardest for us all, the not knowing is awful but once you and your team have all the results and a treatment plan is ready things will get a little easier, best wishes with your results, take care.

  • Eddie thank you for welcoming me onto the forum.

I must say that your words of encouragement have most certainly put me more at ease and has made me have a more positive outlook.

These forums are genuinely of immense importance especially for those that are newly diagnosed.

    Thanks Eddie

  • Glad to help, one word of warning, if you do any research please don't google, stick to trusted sites CRUK prostate cancer UK and Macmillan. Good luck with your biopsy,
