Cervical cancer - stage 2

Hi, I found out yesterday I have cervical cancer stage 2A and even though I was certain I was going to get told I had cancer, actually hearing it made me feel numb and upset. I'm mostly ok but feeling a bit all over the place.

They're having their MDT meeting next week Friday so I should hear from them the week after about a treatment plan but it's looking like chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

What's been the hardest is telling my family, it's been difficult keeping it together and I've come to realise this diagnosis really affects my family too. The men in my family (my husband, my dad and my brother) were particularly shook when I told them, well my husband was with me when I got the news. Now will just take it one day at a time, try to remain as positive as possible and just get through it x

  • So, I'm feeling quite deflated today and a bit upset. Also feeling silly cause I know I should be happy that my stage is now 1A2 and having a hysterectomy instead of chemoradiation, and I AM happy and I know I'm lucky. But ...  I feel like because everyone thought I was stage 2 and now I'm 'only' stage 1, everyone's just so happy that I just need to have a surgery. Like I said, I am too but feeling really alone in my feelings that i still have to go through a major surgery, having a hysterectomy is not nothing.

Anyway, just needed to vent a little and think getting it out might help x

  • I understand how you feel,  I was  1a grade 3, I had to have 5 brachytherapy but felt like people made it so un important once didn’t need chemo, no one truelly understands how u feel inside, ur thoughts or feelings, only people that are going through it really understand. It’s a scary place to be in.
Im on my 3 year remission in March and still struggle to get people to understand how I feel..

  • Hi Mario11

Happy you're in remission but sad to hear ppl still don't understand how you feel. Brachytherapy is a big deal.

Thank you for responding, it does make me feel less alone and I hope you know you aren't alone too. Glad to have the forums as it seems the only place ppl could possibly understand. I'm here if you ever need a chat x
