Thank you. I was told that, although the operation (7 hours) was successful, there were complications afterwards. I was in clinical care twice with dialysis the second time for a while. Was there for five and a half weeks. Back home now, full recovery 3 - 4 months. I had no idea how weak and tired I would be. Thank God for good surgeons!
Hi Mary I'm so very happy to hear from you ,I've thought about you often ,I'm over the moon the operation was successful what wonderful talented people ,God certainly gave them a wonderful gift ,you have all the time in the world to get back on your feet so just take each Day as it comes and recover at your leisure ,no doubt your husband will be thrilled to have you home ,I hope you go from strength to strength and enjoy your lives together again ,Best Wishes Mary stay in touch when you can xxx
Hi Mary,
I am thinking of you and just wondered how your recovery is going. Hopefully, you've not had any more set backs? I expect that you are still feeling weak and tired - unfortunately, this takes some time to go.
Take care.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Weak and tired - you're right.Doctors have said listen to your body, do what it tells you, another said most people that had had what I have had done would still be in bed - I was up in my dressing gown when he saw me. I have been out three times so far since returning home, all medical appointments - splenectomy vaccination, blood tests, and renal clinic appointment. 21st March I shall be seen by the surgeon who did the operation. I do get impatient with myself, my husband is patient, bless him.
Take each day as it comes is absolutely the right thing to do. I just get impatient sometimes!
Hi Mary,
It's really great to hear from you and to discover that your recovery is doing so well. I know that you'll feel impatient that things are not moving fast enough, but you are certainly doing better than I was at this stage post surgery - they still had me incarcerated in a hospital bed. It's reassuring to hear that you have been out 3 times, albeit to hospital appointments. I notice that you'll see your surgeon soon and I hope that the appointment goes well. Continue to take things day by day and you'll eventually get there.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Don't forget that we are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Mary how lovely to hear from you ,It sounds like you are doing really well at this stage ,God Bless you and your husband he is looking after you very well ,I hope your appointment on 21st March goes well you had a marvellous Surgeon who certainly knows his stuff and then hopefully plenty of sunshine this Summer should help you a lot so you can get out a bit more ,keep going Mary I think about you often as I know Jolamine does too ,take care Mary you and your hubby until next time thanks for getting in touch x

Thank you. The sun is shining today.
Here's to many many sunny days Mary ,I saw that you have some tests and a scan next week I hope everything goes well and you get good results ,how have you been feeling lately do you feel like you're getting stronger I hope so ,let us know how things go will be thinking about you next week x
Thank you. I think I had been feeling stronger until someone from Radiology at the hospital rang about 6.30pm yesterday to say that Prof etc had requested a CT scan - why wasn't a blood test and consultation enough? When I saw him last, 28th December, I asked then if he would want a CT scan and he said no. I suppose even the best change their minds.
I think you're right Mary even the best change their minds he obviously wants to make absolute sure you are ok ,its a while since your op and he seems very caring and has probably for his peace of mind and yours while you're there decided to have a scan x
Great to hear from you I was thinking about you and I'm over the moon all is well and glad to hear no more check ups required for 6 months ,I hope now you can start enjoying your days especially with Summer coming soon ,I know there's always that worry of recurrence but I don't think its something you'll dwell on after what you've been through ,I'm sure most people worry about health issues whether or not they've had a serious illness or not so just concentrate on getting fitter and stronger so you can enjoy life with your hubby ,you have come a long way over a long journey stay positive and we are always here for a friendly chat Mary so stay in touch when you can xxx
I can hardly believe it's two months since being here. I have told Chris about being here helped me so much on my journey. Recently I did some weeding, only a little, the first time since last year - then I had a good rest!
Hi Mary its so lovely to hear from you and to realise that you are progressing ,what a brilliant surgeon you had to get you to this stage ,such a massive operation and there you are weeding the garden ,its the perfect time of year to start doing bits and pieces and pottering slowly but surely and then resting whenever you feel like it ,so Mary keep going and rebuilding your strength you are doing amazingly well and I hope you go from strength to strength ,take good care lots of kind wishes ,let us know how you go ,keep in touch Jenny x
