Diagnosed with breast cancer last night

Hi, I had an appointment last night at a breast clinic, after finding a lump,  I had a mammogram, ultra sound,  fine needle aspiration (it was after this they told me it was cancer), then biopsy which included putting in 6 titanium rods and lastly another mammogram.

I just can't stop crying and my breast is very sore today. Not really sure what I'm looking for. Sorry x

  • So sorry, I have put this in the wrong chat, and I dont know how to move it?

  • Hi Jay,

I am so sorry to hear this and know only too well what a shock it is. The breast can be tender for a while after a biopsy, but it will eventually settle down. Most of us cry a lot when told news like this. This is normal and crying is a great stress reliever, so don't worry about it. You will feel much better once you get the results of your biopsy back. It is so much easier once you know exactly what type of cancer it is and what you are going to do to get rid of it. Did they say when you should hear from them?

I have had two bouts of breast cancer myself, but that was all 14 years ago now and I still lead a busy life. Now that you have had this investigated, you are in the right hands. You are also in the right place here for support, as we have all been through this, or are going through it at present.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine

Thank you for replying,  I really appreciate your help!

The Dr said 2 to 3 weeks for results. I also just remembered that he said that I would come in for a CT scan before that so they had all the info before they made a plan.

I'm on holiday at the moment and due back to work on Monday, I'm just not sure I want to tell anyone but also not sure I can hold it together.  I'm feeling so confused as II'm very private person.

    Thanks

  • Hi JayOh,

You should get your CT appointment through soon. I hope that  you are managing to enjoy your holiday, despite having this hanging over you. Most people don't tell anyone until the get the actual diagnosis. See how you feel when you come back - it's totally up to you, when you tell them. The more positive you can be when you tell them, the better they'll accept it. It's usually easier to be more positive once you know what type of cancer you have and what treatment lies ahead.

You will find it easier when you can talk to someone about it.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi JayOh,

I hope that you managed to enjoy your holiday. Have you had an appointment through for your CT scan yet and how are you bearing up? Kind regards,

  • Jayho, how are you getting on .? Like Lara I had breast surgery in July 22 , bilateral mastectomies, and left sided lymphclearance .I started Chemotherapy last December and finished in the March . Taking Letrezole for ten years now and feeling pretty good . You will be amazed how strong you are and will get through this too . I felt talking about it helped me a lot and I tried to stay positive.

I do have the odd days of feeling low but generally life is back to normal . Take care xxx
