Hello debz64 , I am sorry to hear about your problems. Have you actually been diagnosed ? If you have , get in touch with your oncology team ,they should be able to give some more info ,as well as contacting MacMillan . If you have a Maggies cancer centre near you ,they can be very helpful too and supportive for you and family .
I would stay clear of Google ,as you don’t really know yet what’s going on and you would probably read up on worst case scenarios..
You're welcome. It's understandable that your head is all over the place. It can be difficult to even think straight in the first days after being diagnosed.
So my very first appointment was a discussion about what what was going to happen surgery wise. The first appointment with regards to chemo and radiotherapy was all about how many sessions and the side effects of the treatment. I had some blood taken, my height, weight etc. I had the "planning" appointment where they do a scan of the area that is being targeted by the radiotherapy and tattoo the skin so they can line you up correctly in the machine. I started treatment about 2 weeks after the planning appointment.
Make a list of everything you want to ask/know before you go because my brain always went blank when they asked if I had any questions. If you'll be parking at the hospital see if you can get a parking pass so you don't have to keep paying for parking whilst you are having treatment.
If you normally pay for prescriptions get in touch with your GP and get a Medical Exemption form filled in so you don't have to pay for your prescriptions whilst you are having treatment.
