Non Hogkins lymphoma newly diagnosed

Hi,Ive just been diagnosed with Non Hogkins Lymphoma (follicular).I am struggling a bit with the active surveillance and how will I know if my disease is progressing?

My swollen  lymph nodes are in my retroperitoneum and I wouldn't  have known anything about it if I hadn't  had a scan fur an unrelated issue. Its all been a bit worrying and i feel as though everything is  very uncertain at the moment.

  • Hello Happywalker

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with NHL and that you're now on the active surveillance pathway. It's perfectly understandable that you're feeling uncertain and worried about what the future may hold.

Have the team responsible for your care talked about how they plan to monitor your health over the coming months? If you've been allocated a specialist nurse then do talk this through with them if you have concerns.

Alternatively, you're most welcome to give our team of nurses a call for some advice and support. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 and I'm sure they will be happy to offer any information and reassurance they can.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks for replying. I'm  on 3 monthly bloods and have been given contact numbers if I feel unwell or need support. I'm  sure I'll  adjust in time, but right now I don't  know whether to feel relieved that I'm  not having chemo or worry about having cancer but not being treated. It's  a bit hard to get my head round it at the moment.

  • Hello just been diagnosed with this myself. They say there’s some medication I can be put on while I have the wait approach
