Breast cancer

Hello

I got my results from my biospy and I have invasive ductal carcinoma , lump was 7mm ,ER postive .HER2 negative . Clinically node negative , I had my surgery last week and had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy , now waiting on the main results , has anyone had these results before ?

  • I think we are similar in that mine was Grade 1 and similar size, I am in my early 60s so age is likely to play a part in terms of treatment plan. My mum and my maternal aunt and cousin have all had breast cancer. My mum died ten years ago as a result

where in the UK do you live. I live in Cheshire and the results will take 5-6 weeks ! Long wait here.

  • Nims & 1982

I started the tablets in November if you do end up deciding to take them don't read the horror stories I r had minor and I mean very minor side effects only one thing I have gained a few pounds thibk that's probably as I'm so relaxed now and I'm blaming the tablets lol

I was prettified starting these as I read they were going to be horrendous side effects

    good luck ladies

    love Lara ️

  • Thanks for that . Some of the stories are scary so it's good to hear some positive thoughts.

  •

    HI Paline,

I shall be thinking of you tomorrow and hope that it all goes well.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks Hun. Am feeling quite calm about this. Until results are in can't see point in worrying. Am 62 and have grandchildren I want to see grow so am using that as my positive thought. Xc

  • Hi Pauline,

You're quite right. No amount of worry will change anything. I'm sure that you'll be here to see those grandchildren grow up.

  • Hello been thinking about you ! Did you get your results ? I had my planning scan yesterday for radiotherapy x

  • Hi,

Even my wife is recently diagnosed with 11 mm breast cancer. She is ER, PR positive, HER2 negative. Doctors said it's spread in 4 lymp nodes and some traces were found in bones as well. Doctors have suggested hormonal treatment to reduce the impact of oestrogen. We are very nervous about how it will fare. Will it be completely cured ? How long will it take ? What would be the impact of these medicines? Our lives have turned upside down in last 15 days.

    Thanks

  • Hi JM, sorry to hear this, If it's any help I was diagnosed September 21 with ER positive grade 3 Invasive ductal cancer, 22 mm tumour.

The journey I have to say was a bit of a rollercoaster but I got through surgery, chemo and radiotherapy, I now take letrozole for 5 years.

I know the whole process is very daunting but it is certainly douable. Treatments have come such a long way and the side effects of the chemo are well managed. To me it may have been unpleasant at times but but it was worth it. I am now back to normal, I have my hair back and nobody would know.

The most important thing throughout this journey is the support from the people around us.

Wishing the best for you and your wife xxx

  • Hi Kiera,

Thanks for the reply. Our oncologist have suggested to get the harmone therapy contrary to chemo. Our oncologist is suggesting to take hormone therapy for 6 months and then he might consider surgery. I am anxious if we are on the right path. If you are fine can you share how many chemo sessions did you have and did you have your surgery first and then other sessions ??

I wish to take second opinion but at this point we don't want to delay the treatment in getting the appointments for a second opinion.

    Thanks
