Consultant says I have Breast Cancer, waiting for results

Hi please can someone help me. I went to my gp who felt my lump and she did not think the lump was anything to worry about and she could feel nothing in my armpit. She suggested that I visit the breast clinic as she obviously could not rule it out for certain. I went on Friday and had a mammogram and ultrasound and the consultant told me there and then that she was certain that i had breast cancer but wanted take a biopsy from the lump and from under my arm. She took three samples from each. My friend told me today that she should not have told me that until she had the evidence from the biopsy as the biopsy could still come back benign. I have now got it in my head that it must have spread and it must be incredibly bad and that's how she knows without evidence. Please could someone help me as I am now so scared again

  • Sam,

I am so sorry to read that you have got these results. I hope you managed to sleep last night. I hope they get you in quickly and get your treatment plan sorted. I'm thinking of you and Nicola.

    Lots of love Clara xxxx

Take care and all the best. Xxxx

  • Hi Clara

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond and for your kind words ️

Strangely enough, once I finally managed to get to sleep I did actually sleep through for the first time in two weeks!

    big hugs

    sam x

  • The waiting is horrendous and effects all aspects of life so I imagine once you know what you are dealing with it feels like you are getting somewhere. Get all the rest you need. ️  look after yourself xxxxx

  • I am on the very same journey, had biopsy reults 1 week ago. I think when they know from the images they tell us to prepare us and give us some time to let it sink in.
It's the hardest journey and I'm rapidly learning I have to just roll with it...not easy for the control freak that I am naturally.
I hope the results are the best they can be for you, we have the best NHS care at our disposal.
    Let's do this...we can kick it's ***. Big love x

  • Hi ladies,

Am sorry to hear yous have found yourselves on this bumpy road as well,

I agree the waiting is horrendous but they need the time to the details ironed out to get us up n over that bump,

    I have bc grade3 invasive ductal .

I am due to meet my oncologist on friday to get the full details and definite plan to get treatment started hopefully  x have a rough idea from my diagnosis consultation what it will be

Chin up ladies ,  we are gonna kick it out the way x

    Chaz

  • Hi Nicola,

I'm so sorry to hear this. Lots of hugs your way and I hope they find the best treatment plan for you.

I've had a biopsy today and the consultant reckons I have an 80% chance of having breast cancer and he said the good news is they're movable which means they can be removed via surgery. I wasn't expecting this news tbh.

I can't sleep and everytime I do fall asleep I'm back at the hospital again. Have to wait 2 weeks for the results.

Please keep us posted on how you're doing x

  • Hello. Sorry to read your stories. Please can I join you?  I'm 44. Found a breast lump this morning. Incredibly, managed to get an appointment at a Bupa breast clinic tonight. Upshot is it's not a cyst, 4cm in size, and 'suspicious'. They biopsied it and my armpit because lymph nodes were enlarged. I go back for results on Monday and was advised to 'bring someone with me'. Trying to be brave.

  • Xay and trying to be brave chaz

    welcome

I had breast cancer july 22 I'm here if you need a chat .

    love Lara ️

  • Hi

the waiting is definitely the hardest part and it really freaks me out. Also another concern I am having is looking back on this post is how everyone's seems to have been diagnosed and they all ready have a plan. Am I the only one that has had to have a CT scan to see if the cancer has spread anywhere else or has others had to have one. I am now getting a bit anxious that my surgeon thinks it has spread to another area. I had my ct scan yesterday so just waiting for results now which they said could take two weeks. I just want to get started and get this awful disease out of my body but I have to say I am a little concerned now that no one else seems to be having further scans on other body parts only me

I hope you get positive news and I will certainly keep you updated with mine.

    masses of love

    nicola ️

  • Nicola

I didn't have any ct scan or mri , but my freind who had bC had both mri and ct so I'm not sure how it works .

    lots of love Lara ️
