Some advice please

Good morning ladies - can anyone advise me please

Just wanted to ask how long I can expect diagnosis to treatment happening. It's a month since I had my annual mammogram and lump found. My results appointment is tomorrow.

Has anyone gone privately and self payed or does tha make no difference on waiting times?
I read about ultrasound not being accurate in sizing masses - is that right. I was told mine is small . Maybe they got that wrong?

  • Hello Nims

I noticed from your post that you were due to go for your results appointment today. How did you get on? I hope that the team was able to give you some reassurance about things.

If there's anything you'd like to talk through with our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Nims,

I am sorry, I have only just come across your post - unfortunately, too late to give you any advice for your appointment. I hope that all went well today and that you now have answers to these questions.

The private vs NHS question is always a difficult one to answer. Some people do go private in the first instance, because they are so anxious to get a quick diagnosis. Unless they are fortunate enough to have adequate medical insurance, many end up returning to the NHS for surgery and treatment. On the whole, there is not a lot to be gained by this, as there can be another wait to be referred back to the health service if this is needed.

Do please keep in touch and let us know how you got on, when you are ready. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Nima

as the  lovely jolamine said private vs Nhs question is one big question.
For me I had private medical insurance so I had my first appointment and was told in 20 mins it was suspicious confirmed by biopsy in 7 days within 10 days I had my operation with my insurance also for me it was a good experience all around this is my opinion I'm not sure if it's always the best .

good luck I wish you well ️

I just saw letrozole these are hormone blockers I'm not sure but I take tamoxifen

I think tamoxifen are for pre menopausal and letrozole are for post menopausal ladies .

These tablets are taken daily and help block the hormone in the body that feeds the cancer to stop reoccurrence.

I started these tablets after my radiotherapy finished .
