Breast cancer confirmed

Hi, so I had my biopsy last week and today it's confirmed that I have grade 2 breast cancer. Feeling numb, they said at the appointment that it's likely I had cancer, but part of you still hopes their wrong. No treatment plan as of yet, as they need to book me in for a CT scan first. I just got to hope they don't find anything more whilst they do their scan.

I can't believe this is happening.

  • Just do what you always do!

I wasn't aware I had BC until my routine mammogram so live your life as normal and believe me your life is normal really Once you start talking to people around you , you will be amazed how many HAVE had BC , come out the other side and just got back to your life.

Unfortunatley people only talk about the negative side of cancer not the positive

I didn't drink much during my treatment ( only because I didn't feel like it) but I ate as normal if not more when I felt like something I had it!
Just be you and you will be fine x

  • Thank you for coming back to me.

so i have my ct booked for Sunday morning, really hoping everything comes back okay.
I've spoken to breast specialist again this morning (I think their getting sick of me calling) i asked about my hormone receptors, as I realised they haven't told me anything about it. So she told me my oestrogen was 7, and progesterone is 8. They haven't yet received my Her2. But coming off the phone I realise I have questions. What do these results mean?

  • My cancer even tho lump / node etc hadn't shown any sign of it progressing it was HER positive. This are fast growing cells and could spread , hence the reason I had such a full on treatment plus I'll take Anastrozole for the next five years .
Thwy will explain everything to you plus lots of stuff for you to read and they won't get sick of you ringing !

The nurses I came across where amazing

Im off for my first radiotherapy session now

    x

  • Good luck with your radiotherapy. I hope it all goes well. x

    Hi JJ,

Sorry for the delay in replying - I had to look up the dates to see how long it was. First time around, I was given my biopsy results 2 days after it was taken and had a CT scan 4 weeks later. I then had a lumpectomy 2 days after the CT scan. Time scales cann vary a lot from one person to another and even from one clinic to another.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Wow treatment starts so soon after the scan. I've got my scan on Tuesday. I just hope it doesn't show that anything has spread. That's my biggest fear now. Then I'll be passed to the meeting team for the Tuesday after to discuss my treatment plan hopefully. Xx

    Hi Jj,

Not all treatments start so quickly. As I said before, all cancer treatments are individual to that person who has them. My other lumps took much longer to check out.

I hope all goes well for you on Tuesday, then only another week, until you know.

    Regards,

    Jolamine xx

    HI Jj,

I forgot to tell you the reason for my CT scan. The radiologist thought that she saw the shadow of another lesion on my previous scans. Fortunately, the CT didn't find this and I was only left to deal with the one lesion.

    Regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Oh my gosh that must have been frightening. I'm so glad it turned out to be nothing. Thank you for talking to me about this xx
