Breast cancer confirmed

Hi, so I had my biopsy last week and today it's confirmed that I have grade 2 breast cancer. Feeling numb, they said at the appointment that it's likely I had cancer, but part of you still hopes their wrong. No treatment plan as of yet, as they need to book me in for a CT scan first. I just got to hope they don't find anything more whilst they do their scan.

I can't believe this is happening.

I'm sorry to hear it's confirmed, I was the same as you something just holds on to hope that they are wrong .

But hey be thankful that you have found it eariy and it's getting treated just like me last July as I said to you in my last post now I'm back to my normal life it sure goes very quickly my mindset is powerful and strong I carried on working cooking cleaning did not let it step in my way .

When will you get a date for surgery? I had a lumpectomy 10 days after diagnosis it was quick I was greatfull I went private as I couldn't cope with waits biopsy's ect .

good luck the worst part is over now x

  • Lara, you have been such a ray of hope for me through all this. Thank you for taking the time to chat to me.

I have to have a CT scan first and then they will discuss the treatment plan. I just hope they don't find anything else whilst their looking. It's likely I'll have to have a masectomy, possibly chemo. But they can't say for sure until CT scan.
how was you after your surgery, did it take you long to get going again? Does the worry ever move aside?

  • Jj

I can take myself back to diagnosis day very easy but honestly and think of a dark day , but very quickly and easily you can forget  it ever happened I promise you this , once you get your treatment plan ect it's easier again I found keeping things normal helped me .
I had a lunpectomy july 15 th then 2 nd operation 8 th august to remove lymph nodes the op was on a Tuesday I was out on the Saturday night no alcohol of course but our for dinner drain under my dress , no way was I sitting in crying I put my Lippy and heels on and out the door .

Recovery time was so quick o was just careful lifting for a few weeks done tge excercises given and it was as quick as that .

i believe that this group helped so much this is why I can't leave as it was so important to me at that time .

the hardest part of the ops for me was no driving for 2 weeks
     this is my honest experience

  • I love that you was out and about in no time. I think that's what I'm afraid of, not doing all the nice activities with my daughter and just feeling ill at home under a dark cloud. I love your positive outlook.
It's been such a scary few weeks, I managed to push it aside for Christmas, so had a fab Christmas. I just can't wait to be on the road to recovery and feel happy again.

Whats to come is daunting though. How did you face the surgeries and any treatment after?

  • Jj

like you said you done for Christmas put it to your back of your mind if it gets to the front lush it back again it work's definitely don't let it get you .

I didn't sit in one day I was off even for a coffee or to the park for a walk and cofeee sitting in the house is not good for me .

for my first operation I was slightly  nervous but also excited that the intruder was leaving me for good my operation was 5 pm so I went out for breakfast that morning came home done my cleaning then showered and got my hair washed incase I was gunna struggle to wash it after but absolutely no need don't no what I was expecting cause day after I washed my hair with the shower head over my bath I imagined like you I was gunna be sick and bard and on the sofa but it's not gunna be the case for you either I promise you x

  • Hi Jj 321,

I am so sorry to hear that the consultant was right. Still, you have caught it fairly early on and although daunting, it is doable. Have you any idea when you'll get the CT scan?

You say that it's likely to be a mastectomy. I had a lumpectomy for my first bout, then a double mastectomy for my second bout a year later. That was 13 years ago and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life. Here's hoping that you will too!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • It's all such a shock  to start you need time to process it all!

I was diagnosed in May from a routine mammogram Told two weeks later it was BC. Had a lumpectomy two days later and one lymph node take out under my arm

Result two weeks later ( the worst is waiting for those results!!) node clear and the margin (bit around the lump) all clear too. So hadn't spread , I was however HER positive so needed 12 weeks of chemo( finished in November) and 5 fractions of radiotherapy which I start this week.

You will have loads of support from hospital and ask question.

Hang in there you will get thou it xx

  • Not sure about the CT scan yet, the lady I spoke to said she would put an urgent request in. I'm so nervous about that showing something more. As every slight ache or twinge I'm paranoid it's cancer now. Is that normal? Did you have to have a ct scan?

  • It's shocking isn't it. It's so surreal. I just want to get the ct scan out of the way now so I  can get on with getting rid of this. I feel nervous about knocking my boob now incase it makes it spread. How did you get on with chemo?

  • Jj

I did not get a CT scan or mri I did ask but they told me the biopsy results would determine me having these mi e was grade 1 to 2 her2 negative no chemo required. .I did get the Onco type test where they send your tumour to America I needed this for closure and it worked for me .

Did they tell you what cancer it was ? I was told on diagnosis size grade and type of cancer I no that lots of people have ct scans mris this doesn't mean that it's spread it's just a check please don't worry it's normal for these to take place .
