Advice Please

I was diagnosed with lung cancer 8 weeks ago.  My prognosis is not good - months not years and I have decided not to have any treatment.  However everyone keeps telling me how well I look and apart from being severely short of breath and having moderate pain in my shoulders, I am finding it very difficult to accept this diagnosis and am in complete denial.

All my friends and family are so worried and supportive and I just feel like a fraud!  Is this normal?

  • Hi alot of people with cancer look and feel healthy a problem people without cancer don't understand, they expect you to look ill and struggle about.

The way you feel is perfectly normal.

Im hoping others will join you soon to give more confirmation and some one who understands.

Quite a few come on the forum for a good rant and let off steam it does help to write things down to others who understand.

  • Dear Billy,

Thank you so much for your reassuring reply.  It really helps to know that I am not alone.

I think this forum will prove invaluable as I can ask questions of people who understand just what is going on, and won't need to burden my poor family and friends!

    xx
