Prostate Cancer

Hi there,

I'm just looking for some advice/help if possible as I already feel helpless in this situation.

My dad has been diagnosed with prostrate cancer via biopsy. They have came back to say it is a slow progressing cancer (mentioned stage 2 but I'm not sure if they confirmed that's exactly what the stage it was) but he went for a bone scan and on this they found a small hot spot in his pelvic bone.

They had an MDT meeting and where extremely surprised so find this. They went back to pathology to confirm the diagnosis as it didn't make sense that it has spread. They  confirmed that these were the correct findings. After this they spoke with the radiology department again and decided it was a deposit from the cancer.

He is now going for an urgent CT scan to try and find out more. I understand we won't know more or the full picture until we get the results. But does anyone know if it is definitely cancer or this could've been mistaken as something else? Has this ever happened?

I'm trying to hold on to as much hope as I can for him and my family, I'm not in denial but they were so sure it was a slow progressing type of cancer and seem completely baffled by this hotspot - so it's making me think. I just don't want to get my hopes up, or his for that matter, thinking it could be a mistake.

If anyone has a smililar experience or knows anything please could you let me know.

Thank you in advance.

  • Hi i don't want to say to much with tests still going on, but hope i can ease your mind abit.

There are others that have similar problems but haven't been on lately.

If you go to the blue bar at top of your message open search, insert prostate cancer you should find a few other peoples details

Please try to keep positive i know easier said than done.
