Hello Melissa and welcome to the forum.

Due to the pandemic there are still backlogs and delays to results so how long you've waited could be fairly normal in your part of the country at the moment. Having said that, if you were told you would receive your results slightly sooner then there's no harm in getting in touch with your GP to see if they can chase this up for you. 

Waiting for results is always a challenging time as so many of our members here have found out, so you are not alone and hopefully you will receive some support and advice from the community soon.

We're thinking of you Melissa and will have our fingers crossed for good news when your results come through.

I have just heard back from my consultants secretary today that they are having a MDT meeting to discuss my treatment. Please could you tell me what this means if you know, I am slightly anxious and not sure what to expect next

Hi Melisa,

When I had a Ct scan the consultant radiologist who did the Ct scan told me and showed me he had found a few abnormalities and would be referring me to a MDT. That in my experience usually means it's cancer sorry. The MDT usually discuss your case and agree a treatment plan.,

thanks for your reply. She said they were having a MDT meeting this morning, she did mention they was suppose to of done it last week but has been delayed due to pressure on the departments / NHS at the moment. It's the first time I've heard of a MDT meeting, it's been 4 weeks since my op and they sent the tumor of the lab along with a lymth node biopsy. She said on the phone that they will be discussing my treatment plans. I thought my last treatment would be a follow up appointment post op. Thanks again x

Hi Melisa,

I think it's a pretty new thing the MDT. It really means that not just one person can make a decision on your treatment or the way forward. The team will have multi disciplines on it and will come to an agreement on your treatment plan. I think that's how it works. I had bowel cancer 10 years ago had the tumor removed a right hemi colectomy and a adjuvant chemo treatment. I don't think there were MDT then. Unfortunately it has returned although my original surgeon thought it might be a sarcoma because it's in my pelvis. You will be well looked after and it may be the case you won't need treatment they will be discussing that. Don't worry you've got this.

After radiation treatment is it normal to have a 7  week gap before oncology appointment. ?

Unfortunately I can't answer this question but if you give one of our cancer nurses a call on the number I've just given to Melissa in my previous post, you should be able to get some more clarity on this. Plus they'll be able to answer any other questions you may have about your treatment at this time.
