I wish that I had found this forum long ago. My surgery took place on 30th May, lumpectomy and 2 sentinal lymph nodes were removed. the diagnosis was a tremendous shock after having renal cancer surgery in March 2020. Dispite having many follow up CT scan for this, also covering the chest area, nothing showed up until a routine mammogram in March this year. I still have a few tears about it now, and for all you others suffering. Nobody preparess you for how traumatic this experience really is. I was led to believe that I would be back at work after 2 weeks, but the pain was unbearable and like many of you I was convinced that something was wrong. I never saw my surgeon again, just a brief telephone conversation with the surgery results. When I contacted the clinic I was just told that it was early days. I had my last radiotherapy treatment on the 9th August and have still not returned to work. The pain in my arm is very restricting and I am unable to lift or stretch. The radiographers were lovely, but didn't seem to understand my concerns. I know the tenderness in my breats could go on for some time, but what about the size of the nipple? It is much larger than the other, a totally different colour, and feels as though it could fall off if knocked, although I do know that this won't happen! Has anyone else had this problem, or has anyone any advise to give. I need to return to work but at the moment with the arm pain and socks stuffed down my bra, I don't think it will be just yet.
