When do side effects kick in with chemo?

Second cycle down of a 12 weekly paclitaxel & 3 weekly trastuzumab

Apart from the slight tummy trouble and weariness I actually feel ok . I'm sort of waiting for it all to happen?

Am I over reacting or am I  lucky?
Many  thznks x

  • Sounds like your lucky my side effects started before first week finished on first session.  As i said some are lucky hope luck holds for you and your treatment goes well.

  • Hello!

Sounds like I was on paclitaxel. You shouldn't get much worse. The only thing that might throw a spanner in the works would be if your neutrophils lowered (as they do for a lot of people) and you got an infection (but I never got one and was delayed for two weeks during paclitaxel due to low neutrophils).

I also wore freezing gloves and socks every time I had my infusion and (touch wood) so far, have not had any issues with neuropathy in my hands or feet. :) x

  • You're lucky!

Side effects are notoriously hard to predict, I had almost all those predicted when I was on chemo ... apart from hair loss!

    Good luck and stay lucky!
