Hi I'm just looking for some thoughts regards the current situation with my 37 year old wife. 3 years ago she found a lump and went to cosultant who performed ultrasound and said fibrous breast tissue as she was breast feeding. The lump stayed didn't seem to get any bigger so my wife left it at that.
This year she had a breast augmentation in March. Once the swelling settled the lump seemed more pronounced and larger. She booked another consultation and they were not happy so she had mammogram and ultrasound and then biopsy as they said they could see calcifications.the one consultant called another consultant to look at her as well and the second consultant was the one who per formed the biopsy.it was ultrasound biopsy so assume they would of had a good look and feel around the breast first??
I went to see the consultant initially for the results as my wife was so scared amd the consultant diagnosed an area approx 8cm of high grade dcis so from two biopsy areas so she needs masectomey.
But since speaking to my wife they they actually took three biopsy and none of the biopsy were from the actual palpable lump in the breast. I've emailed the bc nurse asking this. I haven't mentioned it to my wife but I'm really confused as to why this would of not been biopsied? Also reading about dcis it doesn't usually present as a lump? And my wife's lump is very palpable.
The main consultant is on holiday as well next week so won't have the mastectomy till at least the following week. They also couldn't give me information as to what type the cancer it was I.e er positive etc and said they will do that after the test what they take out in mastectomy. I know I should trust them as they know what they are doing but I can't help but think it doesn't seem right?
