Endometrial cancer

I have had a whirlwind couple of weeks which started with a vaginal discharge. I am 67 years old and went through the menopause over 10 years ago, so you.can understand that I was worried as the discharge was what looked like old blood. I made an appointment to see my doctor the day after and she gave me an examination. She referred me tothe hospital. My appointment followed less than a week later and I had an external and internal scan. She found a polyp and thickening of the womb and said she would contact my doctor that day. My doctor called me the same day to say she had referred me urgently to the gynaecologist at the hospital for a hystoroscopy and biopsy. This appointment was also within a week, last week, where they found 2 polyps. I was told the results would be about 3 weeks but today I have had a call from the hospital to say the polyps are cancerous. They are making an urgent appointment for an MRI before they decide on treatment. The doctor said I will most likely need a hysterectomy, but we will have to wait for the result of the MRI.

I am still reeling from all of this and have not told anyone except my husband. I will wait until after the MRI which hopefully will show that the cancer has not spread and is only the polyps. I am shaking and weepy and struggling to hold things together at the moment and terrified that the MRI result will be bad. I only hope I can keep it together when we meet up with our children and grandchildren this holiday. We are a close family and I am sure these last 4 weeks they have noticed I have been a bit pre occupied, but I don't want them to worry when hopefully it won't be necessary.

How have others dealt with this I wonder.
