Waiting for Chemo

My wife is starting Chemo on 22nd July, she has triple negative beast cancer. My concern is the wait for Chemo.  She was told on 21st June that she had cancer, and has had to wait a whole month to start the Chemo. Yes there have been varous tests, up until now. But by its nature it is an aggressive Cancer so it needs to be treated asap. I am concerned we are seeing the effects of the NHS under strain and lives will be lost because of lack of resources/ capacity.  Does this time frame seem normal to start Chemo?

    Hi. I was diagnosed on July 4th with triple negative breast cancer and things are moving fast. I have to get scans done next week and they will give me a date to start chemo. I presume that the scans are to check the stage of the cancer. I was told that mine is probably contained in the breast but it's still a worry. My consultant said he wanted the chemo started within ten days. I'm not in the UK and opted to be seen privately as there was a waiting list for mammograms but I think once you get a diagnosis things should move quickly.

    hello there, I just wanted to tell you that I was diagnosed on Jan 25th this year and started chemo on the 22nd Feb and I am private. As worrying as it is, it seems a normal time frame and at least you have a definite date for starting. I wish your wife all the luck in the world with her treatment. Hard as it feels right now for you both, you will get through this and time will pass quickly, once your wife has started her chemo routine. Stay strong. :)

    Yes everything is going well and I'm nearly at the end of my chemo journey. It can be done! You will get through this part of your journey. Here to talk if you ever want to.
