Hello, this is the first time I have ever done anything like this, not even written on facebook. I am a 56 year old women who five weeks ago have been diagnosed with a rare sarcoma of the uterus. I was due in for an operation last Monday but I had caught covid and now this has to be cancelled and pushed back to a later date. I went into Hospital at the beginning of March this year as I was having a lot of pain and my stomach was constantly bloated, I looked eight months pregnant. They had done lots of scans and a couple CT scans and found a mass in and around my uterus, this turned out to be a fibroid. Two months later I had a robotic myomectomy to just remove the fibroid. It turns out I had two fibroids which were joined together, one 6cm and one 5cm but I also had a lot of endemetriosis. I seemed to recover well from surgery, then ten weeks later I had a strange phone call asking me to come back into Hospital but to bring a companion with me. I knew straight away something was a miss. I called my husband who works out of the country and he was home within two days. We both went to the meeting and this is when I was told that inside the fibroid they had found the sarcoma, which they said was very rare. I did a lot of research myself because my mother had died aged 59 of cancer. I was horrifed when I read that if they cut into a fibroid and it is cancerious this can allow cancer cells to come out and attach to other areas of the womb and body. I'm constantly thinking the worse only because I live with my only son and I don't want my son to be without a mother. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this sarcoma and if so did everything work out ok? Oh I have been told that my sarcoma is Low grade.
