Hi I have a 5cm dermoid on my left ovary. It hasn't caused any pain and so it's just been left. (This was decided in the hospital as I was waiting to undergo surgery!) I had to have a bowel resection a few years after the dermoid was discovered and asked if they would remove that when they did the resection as it was on the same side but they said they were going to leave it. You could always ask for a 2nd opinion. I presume you have discussed your situation with your consultant .To be honest though these things never come at good times. I'm sorry to hear of your mum's diagnosis. I wish for the best for you both
