Is pain after a wide core biopsy normal?

Hello,

New to this forum ,I had a wide core biopsy two weeks ago ,bruising is slowly subsiding but I still get sharp pains in the area? Does this sound normal? Having a wide local excision on 4 April so I guess it will continue

  • Morning,

I also had a biopsy, I had a lot of discomfort and bruising from that, just like you.

I now 5 weeks post op from sentinel node removal and lumpectomy.. fully expected to be in pain/discomfort  for a couple of weeks then I would be fine. It’s taken till now the feel normal again.

Although everyone is different I wish I had know that it could take a while to recover, I would have been less anxious. Be prepared to start your exercises as soon as possible as this definitely helps to gain full movement.

Honestly you will get there but listen to your body, take your time and don’t try and do too much too quickly.

Good luck with operation tomorrow. Let me know how you get on.

    Take care xx
