Meeting with surgeon

Hi all

i believe I have just been told I have Breast cancer.  I saw the Dr at the hospital and then sent to have an ultrasound followed by mammogram followed by biopsy.  I was told results take a week. I was then sent back to the Dr to get an appointment.  The Dr called me in and basically dropped it on me that my lump was malignant and it's in my lymph nodes as well.  This was such a shock to me as she 2 hours earlier had told me it was a cyst.   She then said I will see the surgeon next week to discuss my treatment.

I was on my own and burst into tears with the shock. I came out not knowing what was happening to me.   Thinking about it further I don't understand why she has told me that? How could she know it's malignant before getting the biopsy results?

I'm so upset about the way it's been handled and that I have to wait 10 days before I see the surgeon and get the biopsy results.  My head is spinning.  I don't know what will happen at my meeting with the surgeon.  Can anyone help? Will they tell me all the treatment I'll need - I'm so scared of the thought of chemo

  • Hi, Sorry too meet you here, I completely understand how you feel, I'm 38 and went to the Breast Clinic on my as they GP said she thinks it was a cyst and not concerned.

When I went too the Clinic and had an Ultrasound the lady doing it told me then it was Bc, I had a mammogram and Biopsy. I literally fell too the floor, I waited two weeks for my Biopsy results where IDC was confirmed.

At your next appointment they will tell you what the biopsy results are and when treatment you will have if it is Bc. This sounds strange but this is the worst you will feel, our minds run wild.  Once you know what your dealing with you will feel much better. I'm currently having Chemo and it's not as bad as you think, side effects are well managed.
