Morning all
I have been diagnosed with a thick 5.3mm acral lentiginous melanoma in my thumb nailbed. The positive biopsy was done on 1st Feb, I had full body CT scan on 11th March, and head MRI on 15th March, then yesterday 16th March I saw the plastic surgeon for the first time. He has said that they can't say yet whether surgery to remove my thumb will be a treatment option until they have the scan results back. He said that if the scan results come back clear he will put me on his list for surgery in about 14 weeks .... my question is, surely this is too long to wait when I have an invasive and already deep tumour on my thumb?
Is there anything I can do to speed this process up?? I am terrified and feel as though they are just going to potentially leave it until it is too late to treat surgically :(
Thanks for listening, any advice and support would be appreciated x
