Hi grade 3c serous carcinoma ovarian cancer

Hi I've just been diagnosed with Hi grade 3c ovarian cancer and Im having chemo (paclitaxel and carboplatin) on Tuesday.  I'm very nervous but I iknow the cancer is bad so I'll  die without it. Im 63 yrs old. After 3 cycles of chemo I will need a massive op ... from my breast bone to pubic bone to search for the floating cancers and to take out the peritoneum thats cancerous and all the gynae parts. Ouch. Then 3 more cycles of chemo.  Etc etc. If anyone has any advice or is going through OC I would love a friend to chat to.

  • Hi Carol.

I can't comment on OC but I've had a rough ish journey the last 10months.

im 42 and diagnosed with breast cancer. Had lump out and some lymph nodes out. No cancer in lymph.  Sent my cancer to California. Numbers came back high so had  4 cycles of chemo. And five sessions of Radiotherapy - which I just finished last week. It's been more emotionally hard for me. Found it a huge help reading other peoples stories and chatting on here helped. Knowing that your not the only one poooping their pants waiting for surgery and treatment.

Write down any questions you have. Make notes with reply.

everyone's journey is different- ie, so don't always compare recovery times with others.

I've been fortunate that neither Chemo or Radiotherapy has had bad side effects.

Listen to your body get rest - snooze when you want too. Keep Hydrated too.
Cry if you need, but never forget that life is for living and keep powering on.

    much love Efffie x

  • Sorry Carol no advice, I'm currently awaiting results but based on a high CA125 and swollen abdomen I am expecting the worst. I just wanted to say here to chat if you need someone though. It's all so terryfying. Sounds like the doctors have a plan for you though. I hope the treatment goes smoothly for you xx

  • Thanks for replying.  What CA levels did u have? Mine was 544.39 I really hope that ur diagnosis isn't as bad as u anticipate.

  • Mine were 384. To be honest it's not the levels that are worrying me it's more the swollen abdomen as I know that's a sign that's it's spread.
