Burkitt Lymphoma - what are the odds eh!

Hi Everyone thanks for reading. Male, 29YO

in a previous post of mine I had detailed how a small tumour in my mouth had led my specialist to inform me that I had got high grade Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a real shock to the system but the plot thickens...

turns out I have Burkitt Lymphoma - a rare breed that isn't too common.... however fortunately common enough for my specialists to seem to know exactly how to treat it and be confident in going for the cure

Can't fault my team at the hospital, They have booked me in for an intensive inpatient Chemo regime in hospital, and due to the wait time over the Christmas period, I was rushed in to them today for the first RCHOP round.. just to get things moving

I have to say the RChop treatment I had was event free and I left feeling much the same as arrival (a little more tired - 5 hours is a long time) I'm told a symptom and stress-free first round is just as expected as the opposite - so please don't worry if you suffer any of the effects - can be dealt with very quickly!

Onto the next therapy. One step at a time - I'm taking this first step today as a small win. A giant step on the ladder for me kicking NHL butt!

  • I'm glad you've got more clarification on your diagnosis MyUnlucky91. It must have been tough to find out you have a rare cancer but I hope you can take some reassurance from the confidence your team have in treating this.

I'm really pleased they managed to get you in early to begin your RChop and that you're not feeling too bad after your first session. I hope it continues in this way but do be sure to let your team know if any side effects you do have become difficult to manage.

Hopefully some of our members who have been on this journey will get back to you soon but in the meantime we're thinking of you and hope you continue making great strides with your treatment.

    Kind regards,

  • Wow you sound very postive which is fantastic, it's great to hear your receiving such great care and long maybit continue, I wish you all the best.

  • Thankyou for the kind words tank. I'm trying to keep a brave face on although as you can imagine that is extremely challenging

all I (or any of us) can do is listen to the advice from our doctors. Currently the team looking after me are reasonably optimistic they can deal with my problems, so I take that and run with it for now

im In the ring with a 7ft monster, but if I lie down right away that's half the fight lost
