CBD oil - which one?

Hi I am 46 and was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in November and have just completed cycle two of chemo. The plan is to have four cycles then scan in the hope that the tumour has shrunk and so they might consider surgery though this is not likely due to smaller surrounding satellite tumours apparently.
I've heard that cbd oil can help shrink tumours and am willing to give it a go! I have a 12yr old son and to be here as long as possible. I don't want the high of Tcd however.
Could anyone please recommend a brand and dosage of capsule or oil ideally?
I'm looking at blessed cbd and vibes cbd as they are top two recommendations on readers digest review below but would really appreciate any recommendations.

  • Hi Colleen ,

i use CBD oil for arthritis in my knees and my wife uses patches to help with her rumatics in her shoulders and neck,we only use it as a painkiller . Manufacturer shouldn't make any difference just strength and weather drops spray, patches or cream .

I also have cancer palative care and CBD hasn't made any difference at all .

i almost didn't reply but didn't want you to get your hopes up and it didn't work and your paying alot out for nothing .

Hope your chemotherapy helps you .

  • Hi Colleen and welcome to Cancer Chat.

Although research is ongoing, there is currently no evidence to prove that cannabinoids – whether natural or synthetic – can effectively treat or cure cancer in patients.

There's no guarantee that CBD oil found in health stores will be of good quality and as they have a tendency to only contain very small amounts of CBD, it's not clear what effect they would have. As you can see from the article you shared, these oils are merely sold as a health food/supplement and are not the same as the cannabis you may have read about which some people claim shrinks tumours. The products you can buy legally in health food stores (without THC) are not in anyway a cure or treatment for cancer

As Billygoatt has mentioned, some people have found CBD oil can help with pain but due to the potential side effects and risks this may cause with conventional cancer treatment we would always recommend speaking with your doctor/cancer team first to check whether this is o.k for you to use.

If you'd like to find out more about cannabis and CBD oil, I'd recommend reading through this rather interesting article on our science blog. You can also give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment Colleen.

    Kind regards,
