Please let your loved ones be safe -write a will!

We know how a diagnosis of cancer or investigation into wether we have it can be overwhelming but please write a will before that time comes its difficult for those dealing with the aftermath and even more costly for them my dad verbally gave me his house on death bed but there is no written proof I may become homeless with 4 kids so please to those who have not written a willl do it now my dad died within 5 weeks of diagnosis

    You are absolutely right. Writing a will can give peace of mind knowing that our loved ones will be safe. It's really sad what happened to you, that your dad verbally gave you his house but that there is no written proof of this and I hope that you will manage to find a good home for you and your four kids. Try and talk to someone about your situation, maybe a sollicitor or your local citizens advice service which provides advice about housing issues. 

    For anyone interested in writing a will, Cancer Research UK has a free will service and you can therefore get it all sorted very easily. You will also find on that page the necessary requirements to ensure a will is valid and also information about legal guidance after a cancer diagnosis.

    As soon as i was diagnosed got will sorted and funeral plans done and paid for,so nothing for our kids to do apart from see solicitor .

    I did it for us both just incase.

    Hope other people will read this and get things moving rather than wait to long and leave problems for next generation or husband or wife to sort out .

    I'm glad you took a pro active approach my dad didn't really believe it when he was told and it didn't really sink in before you know it he was dying Covid 19 stopped his wishes come true he was not able to see someone to write it down for him even after 3 attempts now my dad worked all his life and everything he worked for will slip away 40 percent inheritance tax 5 percent and more for solicitor fees for what could have been simple transfers of ownership
