letrozole

I am about to start Letrozole, 6 months after my lumpectomy and 3 months after my final radiotherapy session, reason for delay was me experiencing really awful menopause sypmtoms since coming off HRT after finding lump.

Does anyone EVER feel good on Letrozole, I am absolutely dreading the next phase of treatment but have been told by my Oncolgist that I will benefit from taking this treatment.

  • I have been on letrozole for 9 months and I am going to see my consultant on the 20th to see about changing the product. I have sever pain that moves. At the moment it's in my shoulder, wrist, hand, fingers and knee, I am also suffering with mood swings and mild depression. I have had 3 months of chemo, radiotherapy, herceptin for one year. All that has finished and I was hoping the pain would ease and the mood lift. It has not. They have thrown everything at me. I had breast cancer. stage 1, grade 3 (HER2 positive). I personally think they have gone over the top.

    Will keep you informed

  • Everyone reacts differently. For the record I'm on anastrozole and having no problems ( other than doable aches and pains) give it go.....you can always switch xxx

  • Hi Marlyn

Thanks for that reply. Anastrozole is on my list for the consultant. Pain has nearly drove me nuts over the last year. I so wanted to get through the herceptin treatment that I tended to not overstate the pain, but I've finished the course. I'm not usually a miserable person, but my mood is real low. I just want 'me' back.

  • I must admit to feeling utter relief when my onco told me I was going to be on anastrozole . To be honest I had read horror stories about both but it was the letrozole that seemed worse?

I took my first pill and sat on the couch waiting for all manner of side effects to take place lol.....I take it at night too...I'm not noticing any moods swings either....I had those during chemo....

Yes, the herceptin caused me some problems so I was more than happy to be only having 9 of them....

good luck! Can't see any reason you can't switch....the best case scenario would be to have a wee break, then start anastrozole.....xx
