MY NEW GREY HAIR

5 months or so after lkast chemo, didtn loos hair from first 2 chemos last April, but post operation, and 2 most horrid chemos ever, it started, so had it all removed.

It has grown now,, it has a mind of its own, no matter if wet or use gel,, will only go the way it wants to,, so 2 weeks ago went to hairdresser to get it tidy and cut,, as sicking up all over, looks much better now,,

I had quite often go out with no wig , not if im out at night with mates etcm, but in the day,,,and no wooly hat on now,, soo brave, but i dont care any more,

So asked about colour at hairdresser, she said ask DR, he says fine, no problem,, So i think May i will go get a colour,,, was wondering if the colour would cover the grey and some white streaks (anyone read Catherine Cookson?) Im like the Mallen streak,

So good to hear some of you here saying colour has taken,,, feelign much better now,, that i maybe be able to look simular to how i used to be and not like me mum,,, bless her,

  • Hi, I know how you feel, I am also 5 months post chemo, my hair came in pure white with chemo curls. I’m scared to get it cut as it’s so fine still and if the curls are cut it will be very thin. When I was brave enough to hang up my wig I used the wash n colour shampoos which have been quite good as I didn’t want to go for the full dye as it’s not in a good condition, It has a mind of its own, I use a brightly coloured hairbands and clips to take the lack of style away. Maybe I will venture into hairdressers in another few months. At least we have hair again so mustn’t grumble. Not many people saw me without my wig on. I got so used to it, it was so nice, this is hard having to try and do something with it now.

  • I was a bit opposite top you,,,,when on 2nd lot of chemo after op,,, it was coming out,, i went and got it shaved,,, my way of coping, was to post my cancer all over FACEBOOK,, got much support,, as play a game on there and 4000 mates, many from USA,, whoi sent love and prayers..

So i added all my b4 abd after pics , with all my tubes in etc,,, then later after the last 2 chemos and hair loss,,, day after the shave, i posted my PROUD bald head on FB..,.Only one pic though,

Then as hair grew, i posted some,,, if i was out at night with mates or hubby or on holiday i wore the wig,,, but in the day, walkign the dog,, had a wooly hat, had scarfs to start with,,, then as the hair came,, i went out without hat, even to the shops,,, ahahahahahahah

  • Wow, well done, I take my hat off to you, I hope you are feeling well again, take care x

  • My new gray hair is now coming through . I hadn’t been out without my wig until last week when I had an early morning appointment at the doctors.  I over slept and was running late for my appointment. I rushed to have a shower and get ready. I was in the car and thought I cannot remember if I had painted on my eyebrows so I had a quick look in the mirror and to my horror not only had I forgotten the eyebrows I had forgotten my wig as I was already late I had to keep going not quite how I saw my first trip out without my wig. When I got home and told my husband he thought it was very funny .

  • I used to be a bit self conscious going out with the wig on, but I’ve got so used to it, I even bought another one so now I’m finding it harder controlling this wild, (won’t do anything I want) hair lol. Pity help me if it’s windy, it just sticks up and doesn’t fall back down like normal hair. My hairbands are my new saviour now, I was very lucky I didn’t lose my eye brows or lashes but I did buy pencils and watched tutorials etc, even bought fine eyelashes. Maybe I’m so vain but I found this the hardest bit of treatment but can’t believe how quickly it’s growing in, it’s wild. You did give me a wee laugh with your post, thank you take care x

  • [[ ]]Not worn my wig for ages,,, and seem to wear just when im on holiday in evenings, people must wonder,, as really look different with it on and look so aged without it,,musty think my husband has 2 women,, his old mum on the day and a young bird at night, ahahahahaha...  My profile kis without wig,, wish u could see the with and without, as big difference... Im going for a dye i think next week,, ill call Mc Millan and get some info from them as what is best to use, as sure they have had this queestion many a time,

  • Lost my eyebrows and lashes,.. but i didnt paint any on,,, but did wear eye shadow when going out at night, on holiday,, but not in day... they are back,,, lashes are so so,, but then never had good ones anyway, hoped they come back better but not,,,,never used eyebrow pencil in life,, so not bother this time,,, did think about it,, but they are there now,, not massive, but will do lol...

Bet you paniced, when rememberd no wig,, ohh  what  a laugh,, understand your hubby laughing,,,

  • Hi ladies

ive just read your posts and you have made me smile - thank you x I finished chemo in March and will finish radiotherapy next week- yay! My hair fell out after chemo cycle 2 and it was such a huge deal for me but now it’s just beginning to grow back - how long did it take for tour hair to grow back so you had a decent covering of hair? I’m probably being very impatient but I just want my hair back - whatever colour I don’t care - I just want my own hair- also eyebrows and eye lashes - how long before they grew back too? Thank you and thank you soooi much for making me smile xxx take care

  • Hi, finished chemo November 2018. Never shaved it but it came third week into chemo. Lost about 95% of it. I would say this month I am seeing it begin to thicken but it’s still fine at the top. It’s so curly, chemo curls, I’m just so glad it’s almost back but can’t do anything with it. Not had it styled yet, my thick hairbands hide the worst of it but scared to get my curls cut in case it leaves me bare again. Good luck in getting your hair back, it’s just wonderful x
