Looking for help dealing with brain fog/fatigue

Hi,

Its been almost 10 years since benign brain tumor debulking and 30 rounds of r/t. Fortunately my condition has remained stable since.

That said fatigue related issues are my biggest complaint these days. My neurosurgeon advised me to seek advice through cancer forums from individuals who may be experiencing similar problems.

I manage fatigue as best I can (1hr daily naps/rests, etc), that is fine. My biggest problem is the affect that r/t has had on my brain. The tumor is in the pineal region and my pituitary gland was affected from the r/t. My testosterone levels fell to a low level (now being replaced using Testogel), and I lost a lot of muscle mass. I go walking when I feel up to it and my diet is not bad. However there is a very fine line between enough activity and too much activity.

I cope as best I can but if I do anything physical I am likely to experience great levels of brain fog, dull headaches, dizziness, difficulties functioning in general, lasting 2/3 days. I have a 2yr old and 3yr old so I would like to improve my time with them.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi I might be way off but has any body checked your other glands the pituitary gland works the thyroid & adrenal. My adrenal doesn't work right I have lack of energy dizzy spells +other problems what I have is called addesons I need to take medication to keep me alive. I don't know if you have it but you could check with your doctor next time you see them. Best wishes.

  • I have no idea what my thyroid and adrenal levels are like, there were never mentioned. The only prescribed medications I am currently on are Testogel and Vitamin E so I wouldn’t expect it to be medication related.

I am going through a particularly bad spell at the minute. Over the years I have connected a sluggish bowel and these dizzy/brain fog spells. Might be just coincidental.

  • Hi I don't mean that the pituitary gland controls what the other glands do. If pituitary gland is damaged are the other glands working right. I could be wrong it's just a thought.

  • I’ll ask my GP the next time I see him. Thanks Billy

  • I forgot to add, as a direct result of the radiotherapy I developed what is discribed as a “grossly unstable” bladder. In an effort to improve the situation I have been doing pelvic floor exercises the past few days and I have no doubt that this has contributed to the head pressure and brain fog of the past few days.

I am really hoping that someone has some advice in order to improve my current situation.
