GOOD NEWS TODAY.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share the good news I had from the doctors earlier with you all. My PSA last time was 1.42 which had gone up from 0.84. But it must have been just a blip as todays results showed it had gone down to 0.87. I am really pleased as allthough the 1.42 was still very low, 0.87 is even better. So feel really pleased.

Wishing you all a peaceful and relaxing weekend and sending kind thoughts your way, Brian.

  • Max, I have never had a dog as a pet but there are several in our extended family and I would never think you strange.  I always say you reap what you sow and that goes for pets too I think.  They become your best friends because there is mutual respect and love. You get so much from that companionship and it is not weird just a wonderfully joyous part of  your life. Besides he is the friend you can tell everything too and he wont gossip about it or disagree with you - perfect!

I am currently having a smoothie in the garden - sun is out in between a shower or two and taking pleasure from the goldfinches and blue *** on my feeders (does that make me a 'bird brain' ha ha). Hoping to re-visit the garden centre today as need compost and they have sent me a voucher for 'good behaviour in the purchasing department- just debating as to whether to take my trolley or will that lead to another overspend!  Enjoy your day. Love and virtual hugs. Jules

  • Hi everyone,

Thanks Debbie, Pauline and Lorriane for your kind replies.

Hope you are all keeping well. Sending kind thoughts and best wishes your way, Brian.

  • Hi Brian

Thanks for sharing your good news with us all here. It always lift my spirits to hear of something going right for someone with cancer. All of us here know the heart sinking feeling of receiving bad test results and the absolute elevation when receiving good test results. Perhaps other members of the forum would like to share their good news from time to time. Wishing you continued wellbeing, Kim

  • All of us Cancer Chat mods are thrilled to hear your good news, Brian! 0.87 is a very very good number :)

  • Hi

    Thanks Kim,

Yess I well remember when I came home on the bus twelve weeks after finishing 37 radiotherapy sessions and my oncologist told me my psa was the absolute lowest they could measure at 0.01. Anyone seeing me on the bus must have thought I'd won the lottery which in a way I had. For of the three other guys I met while having treatment my psa was the highest of them all at 70 but ended up being the lowest of all of them. I couldnt wait to get home and share my good news with my wife.

    Thanks Lucie,

I appreciate everyones kind words and my result is even better when you take into account my hormone therapy finnished about four years ago. I have been so lucky and owe it all to Mrs B making me go to see my GP. It may well have been a very differnt outcome had she not been so insistant and I feel I owe her so much for this.

Thanks again everyone who has responded. Best wishes to you all, Brian

  • Hi all

Thought I would tag onto a good news thread rather than start a new one.

Had the results of my scan today and everything was clear - My last scan three months ago showed up some striations in my small intestine and swollen lymph nodes in my groin the Oncologist said they could be due to the treatment or surgery but they had to check.  So today I was told they had gone.

Having been diagnosed with stage 4b womb cancer in September 2014 you can imagine how I feel.  I know I have another 5 years of check ups but today I feel great. Thanks to everyone for being here to chat to.

  • Fantastic news for you and your family/friends and thank you for sharing. It was a bright start to my day as I catch up with the forum over breakfast this morning.  Have a great day.  Jules

  • Hi River,

Take care, sending best wishes and kind thoughts your way, Brian.

  • Hi everyone,

Just had the results of my latest PSA result. It has gone up slighlty but still very low at 1.04 so I am very pleased about this and just wanted to share this good news with you all..

I have spoken to my son and have at last persuded him to ask his doctor to give him a PSA test. If a close male relative has prostate cancer, you are two and a half time more likely to get it. In my sons case, I have had it and my father in Canada also had it so with two close male relatives, that increases his risk even more. He also had his results yesterday and they are normal and his doctor has told him, he will be getting a yearly test from now on.

    Take care everyone, Brian.
