My Journey Continues

Hi all my forum buddies.  Just wanted to post on a new thread as it is more relevant than where my journey began.  Hope to see you here. Jules

  • Hi everyone,

Tommorow my phone provider changes and Tuesday they change my broadband over so dont worry if I am off line for a day or so. I'll be back as they say.

    Take care my friends, Brian.

  • That's very nice Hazel always nice to go and get flowers and lay them down though must be sad. All my family that died got cremated which I prefer but never buried. That's the kids and grandkids just left will be meeting them at the restaurant later which I prefer saves one of them coming to me. Just drive there my self. I suspect I will be gulping down wine with company tonight looking forward to it. Enjoy the rest of your day -Diane x

  • Hi Diane, have a lovely evening and don't get too sloshed!

  • Hi Brian and hope all goes smoothly on both counts.

I have today taken the plunge (with daughter's support) and got myself a new mobile phone(current one was second hand from my son over 8 years ago and pay as you go!) and have just arranged for my old number to be transferred over as staying with same company who have served me well so far. No doubt it will take me a while to learn my way around it (wonderful touch technology ha ha) . Am now about to get a tablet too (whatever next!).  What has led to such madness I hear you ask/  Well current laptop is getting on a bit (bit like its user) and 'crashed' last night so need a back up plan in case it goes altogether. Tablet will also be handy in other respects though will probably need an evening class with my daughter to start me off. Maybe I could treat this as a new 'hobby'!!

Enjoyed time with my son yesterday and have a lovely plant to put beside my daffs from my daughter. Spent some time with my Mum and she had me put the flowers I bought (plus new vase to put them in) up in her bedroom and though she was still negative about life at least she seemed pleased to see me.Was also given her post which included confirmation that Social Services consider she is 'eligible' to stay where she is, so huge relief (on the indication that she would be in danger if left alone at any time).

Following my phone shopping today treated my daughter and grandson in our favourite cafe and then I went to the gym and am now counting the days till we have our mini break to Scotland.

Hazel and Diane - hope you both managing okay and will chat again soon.  Jules xx

  • Hi jules hope you had a lovely Mother's Day. I had a great time but woke up with a pounding headache  I forget I tend to drink too much with my daughters I'm a social drinker so that's the only time I would ever feel tipsy. but we get lost in conversation and we forget we're gulping it down. Restaurant was great food was lovely. Then my son in laws took the grandkids home and my daughters came home with me and stayed until 1am just talking and catching up. It's great talking for hours with my kids because we never run out of conversation. Though I think they were wanting to spend time with me as they haven't recently with work and life etc. Today I was in the garden getting fresh air. Was such a lovely day today. I haven't drove the car today as I never drive the next day after drinking alcohol just to be on the safe side. Have a good evening -Diane x

  • Hi Jules,,

Phone was changed this morning and my broadband has been done today instead of tommorow. Am feeling happy to get back online; I know I've only been off for a few hours but it seems a lot longer. My son archery went well yesterday and he beat the No 1 longbow archer in the country but was beaten by the No 2 just by 2 points So proud of him.

Must fly as have lots to catch up on. Hope your trip to your mother goes well tommorow. Best wishes and kind thoughts being sent your way, Brian.

  • Hi Diane

Sounds like you all had a lovely day together and nothing like a good gossip with your daughters. I spent the morning with  my Mum  and at least she did not  tell me to go away!!  At mid day my son picked me up and we went back to his for a beautfiful roast dinner followed by a  2 mile walk with their dog before his fiancees parents dropped me off on their way home.  I now have the pleasure of all the flowers that I received from him and my daughter so good day all round.  I did have a glass or two of wine with my meal but think the walk in the fresh air saved me from any after effects.

Got a new phone today and been 'playing' around with it as I try to get to grips with new style. Tomorrow I collect my tablet which I have ordered for store pick up. Decided it was time for me to 'move with the times' and will provide me with back up if the lap top crashes again!!

Was at the gym today and good company as I did my routine. Will go again tomorrow and then have a bit of a break as will be away at the weekend.

Lovely day here too but apparently rain due on Wednesday so may try and do a bit in the garden tomorrow though the soil is still pretty heavy to turn over. Enjoy a peaceful evening.  Jules x

  • Great customer service this time then Brian and we do get tetchy when our technology is unavailable. It's actually sometimes quite frightening how much we depend upon it. I am picking up my frist tablet tomorrow prompted by my laptop being a bit slow. Decided to have some back up available so that at least I can access e-mails if needs be.  No doubt a few fun and games ahead with that and a new mobile phone to 'find my way around' - will keep me busy and hopefully take my mind of snacking ha ha.

Wow  your son did very well and hope his wife has forgiven him for competing on Mother's Day.

Hope you and Mrs B have a peaceful evening.  Jules x

  • That's good you had a lovely day and your mother was at least not trying to push your our the door. My sister had a lovely day she said all her kids came down and spent the day with her she went to her sons house and has a lovely roast dinner got her mind of the Brest clinic she was to go to today. Which she went to and they done the scan on both breasts don't know if that's what they usually do but anyway they said she should get her results in the next 2 weeks they will phone her to Come in and go over what they found and hopefully didn't find meaning (Cancer) she hasn't told her kids yet as she doesn't want to worry them. That's good you got a new phone. I went from a motorloa flip phone to a iPhone 6 and I'm still struggling with the basics I can phone and text though takes me awhile with texting do love the apps though. I have an iPad mini which is easy to use cause it's big and and I understand it better though it looks the exact to my phone i still struggle ha ha. Enjoy your night -Diane x

  • So pleased your sister enjoyed Mother's Day too and will keep everything crossed that when her results come through from today's scans  it will be the best possible news.  Jules x
