Hi all my forum buddies. Just wanted to post on a new thread as it is more relevant than where my journey began. Hope to see you here. Jules
Hi Brian
I am pleased you were able to get access to your Mum's resting place and know you will feel better having tidied around. I would have no idea where my grandparents (paternal) are but do remember my own Mum making a yearly visit to her Mum's grave during my late teenage years for a few years and how overgrown the churchyard was. They even had goats grazing at one time to keep the grass short. My aunt still lives close by though I think the church closed many years ago.
Hope your son will slowly find his foot getting stronger but an imagine it must be hard for him with the recovery taking so long. Fingers crossed his strength will return but sounds as though he will need to take it easy as he gets back to the work routine. How are your grandchildren doing?
Both our children and families visited this afternoon and I popped in to see Mum this morning. She spent much of the time dozing but has continued to eat/drink regularly and nodded when I asked her if she was pain free. Hopefully the meds will keep her comfortable and they have a good timetable of checks in place for her along with the other residents. Cannot fault their dedication.
My daughter and son in law are hoping for some more news by mid week as regards the move, In the hands of their solicitors and nothing they can do now but wait and hope for the best outcome (that being just a delay rather than losing the house). Rather feels like we are holding our breath but daring to hope. Keeping busy is the only way I know how to cope these days. Hubby always said that worrying about omething outside of your own control was a waste of energy. Easier said than done!
Was happy to have the presence of the grandchildren even though poor Darcey is full of cold and teething bless her. The boys played well in the garden and Zack was delighted to spot the hedgehog though highly unusual to see it out and about during the daytime. My son was straight out taking a video on his phone and really annoyed that he did not have his camera with him!! We think it had not long woken as was a little wobbly but ate the hedgehog food I put down and was last seen waddling back to the undergrowth so hopefully tucked back up in his shelter. Have left more food and water down just in case though.
Well it is heading towards 1 am so perhaps time I gave up on my e-mails and tried to get some shut eye.
Sending good wishes to you and Mrs B as well as the family. Take care. Jules
Hi Jules,
Thanks for the reply. Like you I have been busy the last few days. Went to the tip yesterday two trips and got rid of a lot of rubbish. Then spent the afternoon dismatleing a couple of itemsId made years ago which Mrs B doesnt want anymore. She gave me a hand on one of them and she remarked How much stronger it was than similat shop bought items. My mother always told me a job worth doing is worth doing well. Then this morning I had another quick trip to the tip again and have then washed and hovvered the car. Even cleaned the windows inside much to mrs b's surprise. By jove it needed it. Mrs B has to put her sun glass on now when she looks at it ha ha.
My son has had to drive to Swindon for a training day today so bet he will be tired tonight. My grandchildren are fine thanks for asking. Youngest on is still cheekier than me and my son put together ha ha. Granddaughter is still busy writting her stories; something I dont seem to have time for lately. Yesterday my order for finer grade mini sanding drums arrived all in a plastic box This should greatly speedup the finnishing of my engraving; not because there in a plastic box either ha ha. Tommorow the cooker should be repaired fingers crossed. Thursday night I have a wood club committee meeting.so have quite a busy week.
Grass is growing and so are the weeds too. Our cherry tree out frontof the house is almost in bloom Ilove this time of year when all the new leaves are coming out.for it show the warmer weather should be with us soon.
Hope your mother was okay when you visited today and it was a nice day for walking tothe home and the gym.. Like you we have both enjoyed the warmer weather. and were hoping it would continue.
Take care Jules and hope work is noy to hard this week as you have enough on your plate. Sending kind thoughts to you and your family, Brian.
Hi Jules,
Just a quick post to say the cooker has been repaired Yey, Mrs B is very pleasedand so am I as we can now have proper meals again. Brian.
HiBrian
So glad the cooker is up and running again. Were cheese straws on the wish list? Hope is behaves itself from now on.
Has been lovely being out in the garden but a damp day yesterday.I seem to have picked up Darcey's (or someone elses) cold and so will be armed with tissue for work this morning, Hope the voice hangs on till the end of shift. It was almost gone by the time I got home yesterday (some might say that is a bonus!!!).
At least one side of the garden borders are now neat, weeded and looking better. The other side is in the shade most of the day and still very wet but weather permitting will tackle that next.
Hope you enjoy your woodclub meeting tonight and no doubt there will be plenty to talk about, not least your new engraving skills. More news gathering for the next newsletter too I imagine.
Originally tomorrow should have been moving day for my daughter but sadly not to be now. They are pinning their hopes on finding a new mortgage (their broker is trying so hard on their behalf) in time to save the situation but as the seller has already moved to her new property it looks as though they may lose this one to a cash buyer who is in the wings read :(
The cherry trees round here are full of blossom and the magnolias are already losing their wonderful flowers. All my Spring bulbs are now out with some dying off but the shrubs are greening up nicely; so good to see. I have actually cut some of my quince blossom to bring indoors.
Hope your son managed his training day okay (might have been a good idea to 'sleepover' before travelling back home) and that his foot held up okay. So hard to pace yourself when under the recovery process but must be careful not to undo that that surgery success.
Think I will have to pop to the chemist en route to work this morning to get something to ease the throat. Will just be grateful when the shift is over and I can relax for a few days.
Sending best wishes to you both and the family, take care.
Jules
Hi Jules,
Hope your cold is better now. It can make you feel rough. Know you like your gardening like I do my woodwork. Hope your daughter and son in law get good news regarding the move.Bey you are glad to have finnished work for the week and bet you willenjoy the weekend.
My son made a comment to me about our wood club this afternoon as his archery club has a facebook presense. So have been on the internet to look into this as we do need more members. We have an aging membership and several do not like driving at night. I am also doing a 3 hour stint at one of our local libraries to promote interst in our club and try and get more members. Have a slide show I made a few years ago I can show on my spare laptop along with a few exhibits from members so hope these will boost membership if the committee agrees to my suggestions.
My son managed the trip okay thank you. His energy levels are slowly improving but I think he is a little impatient. I have reminded him Rome wasnt built in a day. After all he has been off work for four months. His wife and my youngest grandson went to an archery training day with him last Sunday and both did quite well and enjoyed themselvesand are going for the next couple of weeks.
Hope you have a good weekend. Sending kind thoughts to you and your family, Brian.
.
Hi Brian
So pleased your son managed his training session ok. Can understand his impatience/frustration at the time his recovery is taking but think he is doing so very well considering all he has been through since he hurt his foot. Hopefully he will be rewarded by enjoying time with the family especially if they are all involved with the archery.
Happily my sore throat has now improved greatly and I have a voice again, albeit croaky!! Now left with the tickly cough which is far more manageable even if it means sleeping in a half sitting position ha ha.
Hope your plans for the woodclub are taken on board. It is sad to think that such craftsmanship is being lost. With your energy and enthusiasm have everything crossed that you will seen have increased membership to pass your love of wood on to. Hope the stint at the local library will bring lots of interest. As always your friends on the forum look forward to following your new engraving skills with interest.
Have added a couple of photos here to show my Spring Gardening during the last week (not beautiful enough to make it to the other thread but Sue did ask if I could show her my efforts!!).
Hope you have a lovely weekend and that Mrs B has recovered. Jules
Thank you Jules, how lovely to see all the spring colours emerging, and not a weed in sight. Must get out in my garden too, now that you have shown the way...!
Hope Mrs.B has now recovered and that you all enjoy the promised sunshine today.
Take care Sue x
Hi Sue,
I was very crafty and only took pictures of the side of the garden I had worked on. Plenty of weeds elsewhere to tackle even after I spent a couple of hours out there this afternoon. It was lovely out walking today so spent longer out than intended but could not resist resting half way with a coffee outside of the cafe overlooking the water. Despite many families and dog walkers making the most of the weather I always find it a good place to sit and reflect.
Hope you have had a pleasant weekend. Jules x
Hi Jules,
Thanks for sharing your great photos. The rest of the committee agreed with my idea about have a club facebook page. We were looking at getting badges for the club but the committe decide to go for lanyards instead. I spent yesterday afternoon working on the laptop formatting the named labels to go into the small clear wallets that go with them. All the committee members also have their named position within the committee printed on them plus our club logo. At our next club meeting I will show them to the other com/members for their approval as I have only donr a few to show them. I bought just one lanyard in to show them the quality.
We may have a problem early next year as there are plans demolish the hall we use for our meetings due to our town centre re-development. There are plans to rebuild but wonder if the costs will be to high for local groups like ours. We have lots of halls in our town but few have enough parking for our members asthey come from all round Sussex.
Pleased to read your cold is much improved and hope you are soon able to get rid of it alltogether. Hope your granddaughter has also got rid of her cold too. Bet you enjoyed you Sunday stroll as the weather was so nice.
Have allready had some nice comments from members about this months newsletter and have got next months as ready as I can. I do a report on work members bring along to the meeting plus a report on last speaker we had.
Has your daughter had any news regarding her move as yet? It must be so frustrating for her.
Have sharpened our mower blade and it now cuts much better. Its one you are supposed to have done by a shop but found a way a few years ago to do it myself. I much prefer to do things myself if I can.
Take care Jules, and am sending kind thoughts to you and your family, Brian.
Hi Brian
How lovely that the Club committee like your ideas (not at all surprised as they know how devoted you are to the subject). The lanyards will make you all look very professional when in the public eye at your shows etc. We used to have plastic name/position badges where I work and these have now been replaced with lanyards. They took a bit of getting used to as obviously 'dangle' when bending and in the early days were getting caught in the skips as we unpacked stock. Used to them now though you would be amazed at how many people still ask 'if I work here' despite the uniform/lanyard etc ha ha.
Hope that you all find a new home when the old one comes down which can be suitable for purpose. A lot of our local clubs are run out of the nearby schools and the library (the latter being the main place for adertising 'what's on and when' to. Good luck with it all and it certainly keeps you on your toes.
Still have the tickly cough but thankfully the sore throat has gone so it will run its course in due time no doubt. Have steered clear of the family this past week as really did not want to pass it on. Hopefully will manage a catch up with them during the school holidays which have now begun here. My granddaughter is find thanks and now has her two top front teeth to show for her cold!! Such a cheeky smile too. We will be hoping to have a catch up sometime over the Easter weekend.
It was a lovely day yesterday and so after my gym visit which only takes half an hour I went for a long walk, laid flowers at hubby's resting place and then on to the cafe by the lake. Once refreshed I did the trail around the lake before heading to the garden centre. I had a voucher for a half price plant so bought a Scabious which only grows to about 14ins and have lovely pink flowers which are attractive to butterflies. This has been added to the recently refurbed corner so fingers crossed will grow well. There was an early mist here today but now very sunny indeed and once the dew has gone I plan on getting the mower out and moving on to the next area for weeding. Why do the weeds manage to grow so well during the winter months when most things are dormant!!
No news for my daughter and famiy yet. Everyone on tenterhooks in the hope that things turn out the way they want but really is in the hands of the experts to get the legalities sorted. The seller must be equally frustrated as she has already moved to her new build so desparately needs things finalised asap.
Well done for sharpening the mower blades. Luckily I have a little shop in the local parade who can do this though I do have a tendency to wear my cheap mowers out before it becomes necessary!!
Hope Mrs B has made her doctor's appointment to get checked out and that in the meantime you both keep well. Take care. Jules
