Hi Brian
Glad you have 'levelled out' again. Isn't it always the way that you enjoying watching the wildlife but as soon as you think of snapping it, they scarper. Nonetheless you have had the joy of watching nature and telling us about it too. Once the squirrel had done a runner did you go nut gathering yourself?
Another busy shift at work yesterday but gosh the time whizzed by. Home for 3pm and did a bit of garden tidying (hope to mow later today). Went out early evening for a meal with friends and caught up with their holiday news. Made the most of the food as was fasting overnight in readiness for 'bloods' today. Does feel strange not heading to the kitchen to fix breakfast and could have had it outside again too as lovely start here and the bees are already at work on the buddleia. I will leave in around 20mins to catch the bus to the hospital and hope the queues are not too long. Have a parcel to pick up at the sorting office on the way back and then a bit of shopping plus the gym to fit in. The afternoon may be a bit slower!!
Think it is a lovely idea to have a market stall at the Christmas lights event. When we have our twice yearly 'fun days' at the local high street many local clubs are represented as well as the shops and it makes for a lovely atmosphere. It will also give you another chance to sell your beautiful products in time for the gifting season so hope the organisation skills you have are well rewarded with a good contribution and response.
Luckily my cold is not causing any real problems and just working through it as not much you can do about them really. I am sure there will be more to come with my grandsons back amongst their school and toddler clubs where these bugs spread even faster but then I am not about to give up on cuddles when I see them. Have both the boys overnight Sat/Sun whilst their Mum and Dad go to Wembley to a Billy Joel night out. My daughter is really looking forward to it and apparently my eldest grandson wishes he was going so probably wont be too happy, so had better make sure there is some cake made to cheer him up after his dinner. Maybe we will get lucky and have the hedgehog make an appearance.
Well best get myself organised and hope you and Mrs B have a pleasant day. Hope your son is enjoying the new job and that his foot is doing okay now. Take care. Jules
Hi Jules,
Had a great night last night. One of our club members gave a talk on his life as a woodcarver which is his main hobby. He told us how every time his granddaughter came to visit him He found the gnome hed carved was turned to face the wall. When he asked her why she did this she told him because he was a naughty gnome. He asked her why he was naughty and she said because he was smoking. We also had a guy guy who has had a stroke turn up; his wife drove him in. He used to organise our shows at Bentely and the club gave him and his wife a big bouguet of flowers and a bottle of wine. He cant drive these days as the stroke has partly paralized his left side.
I have just had my grandson phone up to wish me happy birthday and he asked how old I was; he rekoned I was 63. When I told him I was 73, He said, Crikey; that old Grandad?????? Cheeky little fella. Mrs B has baked me some cheese straws which I shall enjoy but dont tell Kathy for she will want some too.:D Have also bought some cashew nuts and some chocolate coated peanuts so will have a NUTTY DAY today ha ha. Have bought some coloured shot glasses from Mr Tesco to use as bigger version bud vases. I have also just had 12 colour changing battery operated tea lights delivered so cant wait to get out in the garage to turn the woodwork for these.
The change in meds seem to have done the trick re the diabtes thank goodness. We were watching the young squirell again this morning when Mrs B saw this ginger cat stalking up on the squirell. She dashed out the front door and frightened the squirell away but even so he only just got away in time. My son is doing very well in his new job thanks and is enjoying it. He is very tired as in the evening he is fitting his new kitchen and know he will be glad when its finnished.
Hope your visit to you mother was better this week and your visit to the gym went well. At least youve now finished work for this week allthough I know you keep busy around the home. I hope you have a pleasant weekend. Sending kind thoughts and best wishes to you and your family, Brian.
Hi Brian -Happy birthday your 73 I honestly thought you were a bit younger. I'm sure that was a nice compliment from your grandson I certainly would love a compliment like that haha. I turn 74 tomorrow and my kids want to take me out for dinner and I think my daughter wants me to do something with her over the weekend but we will see. My grandkids have just left after I made then dinner but my granddaughter is staying the night to study for her exams in university she finds my house more relaxing than hers but I sometimes have to remind her she has another gran she can go to but I'm sure she'll find time for her as well. Take care and hope you enjoy the rest of your evening. Take care -Diane x
Well a very happy birthday Brian andI amsure you will enjoy your cheesy snacks and nutty treats. No wonder you keep seeing squirrels; he is keeping an eye on your larder. Glad MrsB kept the little rascal safe from the ginger stalker. I have not seen my squirrel visitor for a bit probably due to his frustration at not being able to break into the feeders!!
So glad you enjoyed being back at your Wood Club after the Summer break. Always good to catch up with old friends and listen to interesting talks when you all have a like interest.
Have just a 2hr storm so the garden has had a lovely watering and I did not have to lift a finger! Apparently more to come but it still feels pretty muggy so have the door open.
Busy couple of days at work but apart from having my gas fires services tomorrow morning and then having my youngest grandson for the afternoon/overnight my weekend is looking pretty peaceful at the moment.
Enjoy the rest of your birthday and take care. Hugs to you and Mrs B. Jules
Happy Birthday Brian, you kept that quiet! Enjoy those lovely freshly baked cheese straws.
Can't imagine where your grandson get his cheekiness from though?!!
Take care Sue x
Happy Birthday Diane, have a lovely day and enjoy your dinner with family later. Take care Sue xx
Hi Diane
Happy birthday wishes sent your way today. Hope it is everything you want it to be.
Have been up since the early hours as storms have been continuing for several hours. Does not seem to be bothering the birds whichh ave flocked onto the lawn and the feeders despite sheeting rain and wind. Just as well they are recently filled as do not think I will be stepping outside for a bit!! Just now I am awaiting the arrival of the engineers to arrive to service my gas fires though their arrival may also be affected by travelling conditions as many local roads under water (not mine yet - this last happened in 1977!!).
Enjoy your day. Hugs Jules x
