Hi Brian
I do hope today's funeral for Mrs's B's brother went as well as these things can. I know you will be keeping a close eye on Mrs B but makes sure you look after yourself too. The diabetes lows can sometimes be hard to manage when 'hidden stresses' are involved so its good that you are well practiced in regonising the signs so that you can catch it early. My Mum used to rely on 'butterscotch' and sugar cubes!!
I had a good family weekend and it was not quite as emotional as I had worried about, perhaps because the children were just so sweet and the Christening well attended. I was one very proud Granny and know Grandad would have been too. There was a small buffet afterwards and then I returned home to fix a roast for myself and sister in law. She returned to the Isle of Man today after spending a few hours in London catching up with her old workmates and doing a bit of retail therapy.
Hope the 'reduced' nuts are plentiful when you return on Wednesday and that you can 'squirrel' them away for the days ahead.
Take care, in my thoughts as always. Jules x
Hi Jules, glad to hear the weekend went so well and that Zach enjoyed it all too, what a little star! I imagine it did feel odd to have someone staying with you and it's always nice to get back to your usual routine again afterwards isn't it?
Played the tape game again last night but gave up with the multi strand idea after a few minutes and just kept it simple as before. Must ask her to show me again on Saturday when I go back. Just as well I bought 3 rolls of the stuff as most of it ends up in the bin! It does seem to be helping though so will keep practicing.
My little plant looks happy in it's new home. It's a deep purple geranium which flowers throughout the summer so looking forward to that next year.
Have a great time at Legoland.... is it tomorrow you go? Take care Sue xx
Hi Brian, just to echo Jules's hope that today went as well it could and that you and Mrs.B are ok? Take care Sue x
Hi again Sue
Yes, Legoland tomorrow and looks like being sunny which will be added bonus. Hoping it will be a fun day for the grandchildren (and its only about half an hour away). The family have a yearly Merlin pass so it will only be me paying on the gate!
Purple geranium sounds similar to one that I have and does provide lovely lengthy flowering through the summer months. I need to cut back my bush fuschias but there are still flowering and it seems a shame so may have to leave it till the spring..
Think having sister in law stay was more of an emotional hurdle to be faced (long story!!) but the stress of work seems to have made me a little more vulnerable again grrr. Back to one day at a time thinking.
Glad the 'battle of the tape' is at least giving you something to master ha ha. I am sure it cannot be too easy with only one pair of hands. Being shown by someone is one thing; putting it into practice not always quite so easy but its good that its helping. Does it help with the pain?
Take care. Jules x
Hi Jules,
The funeral went off okay and I was proud of Mrs B and how she coped. I had a bit of a bad start to the day when someone claiming to be from Talk Talk phoned me early morning. They treid to tell me my computer had been infected with a virus for about three weeks. I told them I thought it was a scam but they even gave me a number which is on my router and they assured me only they and I would know this number. I again told them I was sure it was a scam, and told the I would phone Talk Talk tecknical services later on but they then treid to tell me they wouldnt be able to connect me with them. At that point I was 100% sure they were scammers even though they did seem very genuine. I tried T/Talk later on and they assured me they would never contact me in that manner so I was right all along.
Before leaving, I also had an e-mail from my sister in Canada saying she was travelling to see dad again as he had had a bad fall and was now in quite a bit of pain due to the cancer progressing but that he was still showing plenty of fight.
After the funeral, our family were talking in a group and someone mentioned James Bonds new film. I told my youngest grandson I was really James Bond and he replied, poking me in the stomach, "No your not granddad; your to old and your too fat". This made everyone including both Mrs B and our sister in law laugh and really lightened a sad time. Glad it happened. Put me in my place too. Cheeky monkey. I just dont know where he gets it from?????? Certainly not me, surely????
Hope you enjoy your day out today and sorry I didnt pick up on the christening. Glad all went well and that you coped well over the weekend. You must all have wished Hubby could have been there too so it must have been an emotional time for you and your family. But dont the children make us feel better with their fun and laughter. Pleased you also enjoyed having your sister in law to stay. I bet the time just flew by. Take care Jules and once again, thank you for your kind words, Brian.
Hi Sue,
Thanks for your kind words and thoughts. Mrs B is feeling better now as I know she was feeling very emotional about yesterday. She is much more her old self this morning but I will still keep an eye on her as she does bottle her feelings up.
Take care Sue, best wishes, Brian.
Hi Brian,
James Bond??? Cmon put a Scottish accent on and pretend to be Sean Connery, am sure you can do it. Leave your nuts out of the equation and you will be all good!!!
Offer some cheesy straws and no more bribery required.
Thinking of you and the lovely Mrs B.
Kathy xx
Hi Kathy,
The names Bond, James Bond. How's that for a Scottish accent. But as for leaving nuts out of the equation, thats asking way too much. And as for offering cheese straws that would be just as bad. No sorry Kathy, I just couldnt go that far. So I will just have to stay as plain Nutty Brian.
Take care my forum friend. Best wishes and kind thought being sent your way, Brian.
Hi Brian, good to hear you and Mrs.B coped so well yesterday and even managed a laugh or two, courtesy of your grandson. Being able to bring a cheeky smile obviously runs in the family. Take care Sue
Hi Jules, hope you had fun day at Legoland and you all enjoyed wandering about in the sunshine? Just what you needed after a tough weekend I would think. There's nothing wrong with taking things one day at a time either. You have so much on your plate it's no wonder you feel overwhelmed at times but I really admire your 'go for it' approach to everything and it will get you through slowly but surely.
The tape seems to be helping (even with my more basic method!) I have been able to cut down on the painkillers a bit over the last few days which is good as I suspect I may need them more again after the op. Ho hum...
Fingers crossed for you tomorrow, will be thinking of you..
Take care Sue xx
