Hi Brian, so sorry to read your recent news re dad and BIL,
You and Mrs B are very much in my thoughts,
Kept busy with the Kidlets and outlaws
Kathy xx
Hi Jules and Kathy,
Thank you so much for your kind words; it means a lot to me and Mrs B.
Take care, Brian.
Dear Brian, like Jules and Kathy, I am so sorry hear about your Dad and Brother in law. I hope they both get the good care they deserve and are as pain free as possible...
I trust that your show visitor demonstrated how much he "didn't like" your stand by relieving you of more than one item?! It really did look great and was obviously worth the extra time packing up at the end.
Take care Sue
Hi Jules, glad you liked the owl, saw it on facebook and immediately thought of Brian.
Hope your cold is receding now and that you are not so donkey - oops, I mean horse?! Day off today but still up at silly o 'clock (once I am awake, that's it, I have to get up) so am on my second coffee of the day and wondering when it will get light.. Hope you have nice plans for the day and enjoy whatever you do. Take care Sue x
Hi Sue,
You sound just like me. body does not know when you are not at work and I hate staying in bed once awake so little choice but to get up and get on. Plans for today not set in concrete ha ha but have just made some cakes for daughter's MacMillan coffee morning tomorrow (cooling and will ice tops later). Have 'sorted' a large kitchen cupboard and am 'offloading/recycling' usable goods to local charity shop on my way to gym in around half hour. Wet here just now so cannot plant bulbs (purchased yesterday when out with son who happily also carried a v.large bag of compost through to back garden for me too) so am considering going into town for a wander rather than just sitting on my backside and it will break up the day.
Hope you have a peaceful day off whatever you are up to. Take care Jules x
Wet here too so suspect will not get a visit from the roof men this morning, just as well as I am still not showered&dressed, usually only a weekend treat (that's the slow start, not the roof men!) Really should get going though to make the most of the day as I have my pre-op assessment at lunchtime so that'll be the afternoon taken care of! The University is also having a Macmillan coffee morning tomorrow but, although I momentarily considered making cakes, I didn't want to inflict the ensuing results on my colleagues so will make a donation instead, win/win for everyone with no risk of dodgy tummies! Hope it cheers up enough for your planting later, can't wait to see a photo or two in the spring, it's going to be lovely after all your hard work. Enjoy your wander later Sue x
Good morning Sue,
Thank you for the kind words regarding my dad and brother in law. Dad has proved to be a real fighter and as I have mentioned to Jules, I am so proud of him the way he keeps fighting the prostate cancer that has returned after so many years.
Thanks also fo posting the picture of the owl. I have showed it to Mrs B and she said how she would love one of those in our garden.
Take care, best wishes, Brian.
Hi Sue
Hope your pre-op assessment goes well and it will move you forward towards getting a date (obviously not something to look forward to but better able to plan if you know when things are going to be happening).
I did enjoy my wander and with the sun coming through not even a coat was needed. Before I went I popped some washing on the line and was dry when I got back. One of the ladies at work is retiring next week so I popped in and added to her 'collection pot' whilst in town. Also had a voucher to spend so treated myself to hooded jacket (waterproof) which will pack away for those 'just in case moments'. Cakes are now iced and decorated with choc chips so now just have to deliver them tomorrow morning and enjoy the social occasion. Could well be that I end up buying them back if they are 'avoided' ha ha. Let's just say my daughter was somewhat amazed when I told her I was baking, which just goes to show how often it happens. I am looking forward to having an excuse to eat cake - all in a good cause. Last year she raised just over £200 so hoping she does well again.
Have just had another short sharp shower so will leave the bulb planting for dryer conditions - still a couple of months left to get them in though once it's done I will be relieved (and so will my muscles!!).
Have a peaceful evening. Jules x
Hi Jules, didn't quite go to plan. An hour before I set off I had a call to confirm my appointment for today and also for the op itself, which is not until 16th November! I had originally been told it would be late Sep/early Oct so was not expecting the longer wait. Unfortunately, this coincdes not only with a colleagues week off but also a course I had been signed up for as part of my cancer treatment follow up. so, not great timing on any front. I can attend another course in Jan/Feb but really wanted to go sooner rather than later. Oh well, at least, as you say I now have a date!
The assessment itself was fine except that the first two blood pressure readings were sky high and the nurse was very concerned. She then decided that rather than sitting in a chair for it, as it has to be done on a leg rather an arm, she'd lie me down to do it and yes, you've guessed it, it was absolutely normal! Drama over and all paperwork completed etc she sent me off for a blood test. However, this was refused as they "only do blood tests on arms, nowhere else" Sent back to the assessment area and after some consultation between the nurses they decided that if a blood test was required then it could be done by the surgeons team before the op.
Good to hear the cakes turned out well and I hope tomorrow raises even more than the impressive amount your daughter made last year. Have a good time and I hope you don't have to make use of your new jacket. Forcast is looking good so your aching muscles may have another workout over the weekend. Take care Sue x
Hi Sue
You were certainly given the run around for your blood! I bet you were glad to get back home after all the palaver. Why is it nothing turns out as straightforward as we would like grrr (on your behalf) and now more waiting for the op itself - that is a long 'hold' following pre-op assessment too. Me and our feathered friends will just have to keep you company along the way to help the time pass!!
My daughter's coffee morning turned into more of a 'bring and buy' cake sale for McMillan but a good social get together and lots of chatting/eating enjoyed by all who popped in (over four hours in the end). So far about £140 raised. I 'purchased a selection to bring home (very naughty) and then en route popped in to do my gym circuit. When I mentioned where I had been and what I had in my bag they asked if they could raise more money by staff donations for my goodies (double whammy!!). Left cakes with them and will collect 'takings' on Monday when I am next there. Guess who will not now be eating leftovers ha ha.
Weather has been great for the time of year and hopefully due to last through into the beginning of next week. Fingers crossed before I go back to work on Wednesday the bulbs will be in the ground and the lawn mowed(again) and I can relax that work in the garden is done (apart from titivating shrubs and dead-heading). One of my Spring flowering shrubs is in bloom again now so nature is definitely confused.
Hope you have a relaxing and peaceful weekend. Take care. Jules x
