Since I've been in remission all my family think I'm back to normal and leave me to it. Has anyone else been in this situation?

I am in remission have been so since October, I had APR surgery due to bowel cancer, I have diabetes and osteoarthritis so mobility not great, since I’ve been in remission it seems like all my family think I’m back to normal and leave me to it, I’m 64 with no friends in the area, I’m my fathers carer he is 100 and seems to be getting quite a handful, I feel tired all the time and feel so along, has anybody else in the same situation as me!

  • My treatment experience is a little different (bowel cancer, chemo, surgery, chemo, surgery). I'm hopefully out of the woods, but still adjusting, hugely scarred (literally and mentally), easily tored and need to recover my strength and other health routines.

Its certainly am adjustment and I have a tendency to underestimate these things. I think it gives me mental strength to believe i can do things, but also makes me down when things are never so simple.

My partner has been a great support and a handful of friends from different groups have been amazing. But my wider family have done next to nothing and only one of them tends to check in on me. It's upsetting, but I guess they just dont realise what I- and I imagine many posters on here - are going through.
