Radiotherapy

Hi there.

could anybody tell me how long fatigue lasts after having radiotherapy for breast cancer. I finished my treatment Nov 24 and still feel really tired. I am on a phase return at work and they have been really good and have told me to just to take it easy. I feel like I am complaining when asked how I'm feeling. Just can't seem to shake the tiredness.

  • Hello Nicky,

You've done well to complete your treatment which can be a tough process. It's difficult to say when side effects like fatigue end but do mention this to your healthcare team, if you haven't already, as they made have advice to help to improve this. You can find more guidance on around radiotherapy on our website and if you'd like to speak to a cancer nurse, you can get in touch with the team on the freephone 0808 800 4040. Lines are open from 9 to 5 Monday to Friday.

    I hope this helps,

  • Hi, I finished my treatment on 12th November and found myself very tired. I started taking Feroglobin liquid which is a mild iron and vitamin supplement. I spoke with my Oncologist about this first and he said it would be fine to use. I have 2 5ml tsp's every day and it has really improved my fatigue. You can buy it in Morrisons for £4.89 but during the winter months they have it on a 3 for 2 offer. Its worth a try, it may help you the way it has helped me. Good Luck x
